Please release on steam, if you dont, this game is just going to be dead. I dont know if its all the new players that you have banned, or just lack of interest wth new games like fall out 4 etc, but the game is sinking fast.

...there is a game and you are currently in it. It may be a coop game, but all the same...

Please release on steam so that I dont have to make posts like this and have inferior replies like the above.

You think that there will be less "inferior" posts after Steam release?

some numbers wrt topic: In last 24h there was 147 matches. Of those 36 matches were without bots. Of those 22 were in public rooms. Of those maybe 10 look like they would have been worth playing. (not 4-minutes-supershort, no silly map, even teamnumbers..I think this criteria are not unreasonable) Spread over 24h that is thin. Clusterfuck used to be the go-to option if you 'just want to play' but this friday there was not even clusterfuck. Appearently it has evolved into clusterfuck-compstomp. Distribution packaging is more important than steam. Ask wesnoth. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Downvotes on the delivery aside, the underlying point is an issue - playerbase is shrinking.

Are there any longterm statistics on that? AFAIK there are usually some peaks throughout the year related to semesters, vacations and stuff.

This does sound promising. Should ZK wait for a "nicer" linux lobby before this?

The point is pretty obvious here: Unless we get ZK on steam, ZK will die, cold and alone.

Weblobby ( http://weblobby.springrts.com/ ) works fine, and should be easy to package.

I'd like to point out that many university programs are preparing for winter break and heaping tons of work on those of us who happen to be working on a degree. That may have something to do with a drop in player activity since some of us are trying not to rip out our hair while screaming about espresso.

The spring 100 itself is already in debian testing (and in unstable) so this makes things even easier... https://packages.debian.org/stretch/spring

is wesnoth really something to aspire to, i don't know anyone who's played it in like 10? years

As far as presentation and accessibility goes, yes. Wesnoth is easily the open source game to demonstrate the potential of open source games with.

How ironic that ZK's name itself alludes to the fact that the entire universe will suffer this exact fate. Steam release or not.

Lol, but as Licho quotes: quote: To the heat death of the universe |
Hmmmm, maybe Licho need more science
