Is it only me? The forum font here is somehow blurred and a bit diffuse to me. And no I have no eye problems other webpages are all fine and not diffuse or blurred :)

I can't say I like the font but I'm not sure I would describe it as blurring.

It is hard to read large bodies of text in this font, I am finding.

Oh I thought my browser was causing it.
I don't like it either, what was wrong with the previous one?

FYI, here's the commit that did it.

It doesn't say why, though.

Relax, this is not the Apple forum.

Too bold or not too bold that is the question.

I dislike the new font too.

It's quite... different. Not a huge fan of it myself.

For one: You can't easily tell if you upvoted/downvoted something (Used to be that the option you picked was highlighted).

I like it quite a bit.

I think the new font is a mistake, not an improvement. There's a reason that Helvetica and its brethren are in such wide use.

The Open Sans font makes a good choice for non-bulk elements such as these:

But for the body text of the posts themselves, please stick with plain old sans-serif, i.e. Helvetica and Arial.

I think the intention was to use an open font (correct me if this is incorrect). Even so I agree that a less bold font for bodies of text would be preferable.

for the record, from zkdev:

[10:28 PM] Licho i think its because font is "semi-bold"
[10:29 PM] Licho you can replace with regular one
[10:29 PM] Licho be sure to replace both zkl and site
[10:29 PM] Licho and test it looks ok

I like it. But all the font is blurry for me all the time.

I find it a lot more readable, but that's probay largely due to the space between lines being increased from the old font.

holy lobster :O
impelled to install a firefox plugin to change the old font back for the body of this site
buttons still remain with the new font and they are really really awesome now, though

I like it, and it's not blurry. Get an operating system that renders fonts properly! ;)

Would probably prefer non-semibold though.

DErankChesti, could you please post a screenshot (png ideally)? I'm curious if something weird is going on with your computer's font rendering. I haven't had a chance to check this on a desktop machine yet.

I think I had to look three times to verify it's not actually comic sans.
It's mostly that we're expecting something else when looking at the text on this page though, I suppose it's a matter of getting used to. Our eyes are way too tainted with years of looking at the previous font to make an accurate assessment of the actual first impression though.

Still, my thoughts:

And forum post font is simply too large/bolded/spaced out.

(Yes, I'm aware it's all the same font family).

I agree with Elo's comments, and will note the implication that the font works well for isolated elements and poorly for large blocks of text.
