Reduce effficency of solar due to pollution

Interesting idea,

Add a pollution variable representing the amount of pollution in the atmosphere. This will effect production of solar power.
Pollution starts at 0, and increases throughout the game.

solar produces 2 * (1 - pollution) energy.

When a pollution producing event, pollution goes up. several of theses events would include:
commander dies => +10% pollution
fusion plant dies => +10% pollution
singularity reactor => +40% pollution
strider dies => +~10% pollution
nuclear missile (blocked or not) => 100% pollution

This would decrease solar throughout the game, forcing other types of energy to replace it. Also if a team is only using solar, when a nuclear missiles is fired, they lose all of their energy as their production goes to 0.

Simply make your solars bigger to account for pollution!

solar size would be determined by the formula of 1/(1 - pollution)

therefor when a nuke is fired, the game will almost always end as solars would consume everything.

Solar already has the worst efficiency in the game which forces people to replace it for general production as soon as they can afford. Sometimes in the midgame you still just want a small generator (e.g. quickly OD a frontal mex, or fill a tiny gap in the grid) so you're just destroying choice between solars and turbines.

Have you gathered some stats on how much energy teams actually have in solars at the stage when nukes are used?

Maybe you would like the decaying energy generator from future wars, the RTG. I think it's one of the best ideas in future wars.

That is the exact type of excess of detail this game doesn't need.

Also solar is already an inefficient energy source and you're supposed to gradually phase them out for fusions and later adv fusions, there is no good reason to nerf solars as the game progresses.
