why does it when the host splits when there is too many people, it split unbalanced? 1 host goes experienced and 1 goes noobies. shouldn't it be a mix so noobies can learn and is more friendly to newcomers?

newbs should play against newbs until they no longer make newb mistakes

pros should be able to play without needing to teach a course in "basic zero-k" each game, AND without someone to throw the blame on when the opposing pros beat them (this is kind of important)

it seems logical to me

how are newbs supposed to not make newb mistakes wen there playing with other noobs?

i think its fixed in the new update now anyways...not sure tho

No, the opposite - the new update fixed bugs in that splitting behavior. The separation of newbies from pros is intentional, and is consistent with other platforms. All competitive, online multiplayer games attempt to match players with people of a similar skill-level.

Even the newb split will usually have players with enough experience to give some positive input. I tend to suck so I might get stuffed into the bottom half of a split, but I've enough experience to at least give the players all the intoductory info they need. There are many middling players who coudl do the same.

I also don't understand this stupid split mentality... just make one damn small teams host, one medium and one exp. players? What the fuck is so difficult on that? Pros would join auto the exp host because they hate it to play with newbies. Just try it..

Lol, were there many splits or something?

I just looked yesterday at teams host, and while i was looking it never went below 10x10.

Yes, "do you want to split game?" at most times had zero "yes". Probably newbs didint vote at that poll "what size of games you like" ;)

I am not sure if it is a discontinued unit or just an outdated model but i do not recall ever seeing it ingame, and yes it does cause a twinge of grief each time i see it

It's an older version of Crusader.

But there are hidden ships in zk, like an assault cruiser and a scout kamikaze submarine :P

included in game archive, accessible with cheats or mission editor, but not available for players to actually build.

There already IS an experienced players host. But pros usually don't join it because (IMHO) they whine they can't INSTANTLY make a new game, and can't bother to do a bit of WORK to advertise that game on the chats.

Exactly. So the positive and negative feedback from your own actions creates an accelerated learning loop, and, if you're equipped with enough desire for improvement, you quickly gain at least a hundred more of actual skill - quickly followed by elo itself once you start pwning the other guys with swift vengeance and unforgiving precision :P

This of course implies that you go as far as to watch replays and see what mistakes you made, etc. Some people just don't learn and stay at 1200 elo even after a thousand battles, always doing the same "porc my simbaes" ploy.

Anyway, you're too categorical on "one mistake" part, too. There was that tournament game where a guy who lost his only factory THREE TIMES (rebuilding each time), lost his commander as well, and still came out on top - want to see the replay?

sure! where is it?

There ya go: Multiplayer B92934 2 on wanderlust_V01

^- that replay is for an old engine version though. (just it case it somehow fails to play)

Multiplayer B114516 2 on DesertCliffsV1
this also has decent comeback i think. at 4 minutes my factory dies and no units but commander are left. Bit later the commander dies too...
At some point enemy is in base and i dont even one unit or turret.
