I've seen AI with an army 20x bigger than the other team and then they just decide not to use it. You add one stinger and congratulations they can't touch you now. I think when they significantly outweigh the enemy in numbers or strength they should attack. For most of the time their army's just circulate around their base moving from point to point.

I also haven't seen them make much big stuff, tends to be lots of lighter units. e.g. normal players would make an increasingly large unit army. e.g. building up lances and shields. Or mass striders.
Maybe there could be some more A.I. types that have different traits?

It can't actually judge these things as well as you do, and the particular AI we have (Circuit) prefers to err on the side of unit conservation.

It's possible to make a more aggressive AI but it will then proceed to err on the side of feeding :)

vxd240, are you using Brutal AI?

Every AI difficulty lower than Brutal, is just Brutal AI with its configuration broken so it plays badly. Being super over-cautious is just one of the ways that this manifests.

Brutal AI is usually looking for 1:1 force parity, weighting static defences 2-3x their actual power to account for their efficiency.
