Ctrl+Z / Select-All-Units-of-Selected-Type is very useful, but for some reason it doesn't work on any builder units, which just get deselected. Is that a setting somewhere I can change?

There exists some toggle "deselect constructors when using select all hotkey" somewhere in the menus, use search.
