What about an award that would be given to a player with the highest area under the damage damage dealt on time curve? CA does not convey that much information, because damage dealt at the beginning of the match has obviously more value than damage dealt right before it ends. You often have strong players grinding through the early game and middle game, but the CA award gets snatched by some lob who built a Starlight.
Also, it can be some weighted area, but that is not that important.

Attrition Grinders are kinda meh though, since that kind of player does the same thing in most games in most situations and you can figure them out by looking at chart.

Some other award ideas:

1. Mega-Kill: Awarded for highest damage, highest loss inflicted within (say) 5 seconds. (excluding nuke/super/silo). Points to which player to follow for exciting plays like snitch or dgun hits when looking at replays.

2. Tenuous resistance: Commanders to have withstand to most damage (as multiples of its own health) and survived

3. Counter Intelligence: Most (self cloaked units + Cornea) killed, also above a threshold metal value (moving flea/blastwing/bombs, also badger mines do not count)
