so u can write this cose your ancestors eat meat and now u can be vegan and criticize meat eating but u wouldn't be able to have a brain capable of that if your ancestors didnt eat meat...

vegans/vegetarians:
Pamela Anderson, Nikola Tesla, Steve Jobs, Leonardo Da Vinci, Einstein, Matt Groening, Natalie Portman, that new chick from new starwars... and most of all, yours trully: being cute and bubbly as Pamela and smart as Tesla, moi.

I can write this because a vegan, Tesla, invented electricity. :D

"Every animal you eat is one less animal that suffers. "

Thats actually rather interesting philosphical question.
You are certainly right for most animals nowadays because they are bred under abhorent circumstances.

But if you think about animals kept by smallscale farmers in third world countries, or maybe the cattle that live on the alms of austrian/swiss (or cobe cattle for that matter)alps I dont think that question is answered so easily.
Personally I think Id rather have existed for 3-5 years as austrian milk cow before getting slaughtered then to not exist at all(which is the alternative you have to consider). This goes to the rather important ultilitarianistic question about at what point of suffering life isnt worth living anymore...

All that being said, I personally find it rather disgusting to eat meat, hence Ive been a vegetarian(but not vegan) since I was 10.

I'm fascinated by how it's fine to eat something if it's sufficiently alien to our own experience, it's entertainingly selfish and ironic.

Bacteria? Fine.
Plants? Fine.
Fungi? Fine.
Does it have eyes? Oh hell no, I'm feeling guilt!

Sheep in Norway seem to have a fine life. I mean, getting bit by bugs all summer in whatever weather happens to come by. Don't know how the winter is, I guess boring inside some building. Anyway, pretty low-stress as these things go.

I get what you mean Spider and that is a rather annoying and selfish position. At the same time I have to claim that this is about 180° from what Id propose concerning these questions.
On the philosphical question, the only reason Id value animals above plants and funghi is because I think they have a greater capacity to experience pain/happines (which is the only criteria I would use to assign value to life forms...).

On the eating part, it has nothing to do with pity and everything with disgust. I stopped eating in times of madcow and other diseases, not even because I was afraid of getting sick, but simply because the idea of eating that seemed disgusting.
I have no problem touching raw meat or even seeing animals killed, though thats disgusting in its own way, but EATING that stuff, no Thanks. Now thats a rather personal position so I certainly dont advertise/try to convert others..., except for the exact thing you describe. If you can eat pigs and chicken and cows, why not dogs and cats, or insects for that matter? Never seen a consistent answer from a meat eater on that, except the very reasonable I like what I like.

I've never eaten dog meat or cat meat, because it's not available in stores or for a competitive price compared to other types of meat you listed. It's not economical to breed carnivores/predators for meat. There's nothing inherently wrong with eating any meat, it's all a matter of cultural taboos, cost effectiveness and health concerns. You'll find plenty of people in the world eating dog meat out of convenience, necessity or decadence.

If you like philosophy surrounding this topic, the very definition of what it means to be alive is inherent to humans (that we know, so far). We defined life in our languages, life as we know it is just a linguistic abstraction. Sure there's various definitions, but again we as humans made it all up. It's just words we try to describe reality, it doesn't change what reality is. I don't believe I'm any more sentient than a fire burning a pile of wood, and again sentience is just another abstraction. As a tiny piece of universe experiencing itself, questioning why it's wrong to absorb another piece of the same whole.

most people will never understand how to love.. themselves.. others.. and the things we do can also prevent it.. some people never learn to get attached to cows simply because they pay to enslave and desrttroy them

i find it to be arguably likley that somone who eats chicken does not love chickens but rather the taste

this is already an open can of worms.. but i think the idea is that you forgo the eating of a creature because empathy has allowed you to understand the conciousness within yourself has a wish not to die or suffer and that some other creatures also share that wish

bring on the rain of downvotes at the mere suggestion you could care about the destruction you can cause regarding the sometimes needless and most-likly chosen, definatly selfish.. comonplace acts of murder

AUrankSmokeDragon In theory yes. But there are people like those in masks, who know they fucked up and just wanna fuck up others. Taste is secondary. The will to fuckup another is primary for them.

There are others who just want you to fail. Thats all they have in their lifes. Whole poland is full of those. You probably also heard about "tall poppy syndrome" in oz... commonly known as "crab bucket" its not about taste. its about to fuckup another, just because. Its a sport to them...

I'm seeing a pattern here, you behave the same way when you play a zero-k team match. You ignore your team, do your own project like a unit cannon, athena djinn spam, scylla lobster/transport/djinn on land map etc. It's you against the world to the detriment of your own team, where you believe you're the one with correct opinions and just cause. The savior and victim of an unjust world, hero held down by others that work against him.

Have you tried cooperating with others?
