1) reclaim strategy - is there a way to do effective reclaim that does not require extensive micromanagement?
2) don't interrupt commander - too often I swept up the commander when trying to select nearby units. Is there a setting or way to avoid interrupting commander when it is busy with other tasks?
3) commander is dead - is it important or necessary to add storage after the commander has been killed (or under other circumstances), assuming no excess metal is present? Or any other steps that should be taken in case of commander's demise?
thanks for any and all input,
cheers,
Stanley

1) What I seen done is either a forward caretaker to both repair damaged units in that area and to reclaim whatever dies in it's range, though sending a cheap constructor or two and ordering them to reclaim in an area works well enough

2) I don't think there's a setting for specifically that, but pretty sure there is one to not allow a commander to be selected by dragging the selection box to get several units at once, I don't remember where and what exacly that setting is though

3) It's important to have storage if you expect a burst of metal gained (from reclaiming for example) and aren't fully using your metal, however if you use more metal then you gain you can get away with not building any storage pretty much, the important thing from a commander is it being a constructor that can be customized to be a bulky combat unit or whatever else you want as well as very minimal (but still existant) metal and energy generation

Hey there, those are good questions.

So, I like forward caretaker for auto-reclaim. But, another viable strategy is to use the area reclaim command on constructors. Select a constructor, select reclaim and click and drag a big circle with your mouse. The con will auto-reclaim any wreckage in that area.

As for the commander, I usually make a storage before heading him into danger. A storage - one storage - is useful because if the commander dies then you don't lose all the metal that was in commander storage.

1) Widgets that automatize builder/nanotower behavior are listed in the second section of this post. I recommend to use mobile builders instead of nanotowers at front lines.
2) If you hold Alt while drawing a unit selection frame, cons are excluded. Unfortunately, coms are not excluded. Does anybody know how you can reconfigure this such that coms are also excluded?
3) I recommend to build one (not more!) storage at high priority when the com dies or is at risk of dying.

3) Commander dead = build a storage. If you build the storage right before it dies, then that's even better.

A) Buried caretaker. No need to micromanage it because if the enemy shoots it, it can't run anyway and just dies.

B) Repeat area reclaim order on constructors, with autoretreat on 99% HP. They get shot, they run. Less survivable than microing, but fully automated, and it's not like perfect micro will save all of your reclaimers from phantoms or cloak-snitches anyway.
