Episode 1! Unlike the pilot episode this is nothing fancy gameplay-wise, just basically a one-on-one with a jumpbot CAI.

Also with wall-of-text story. 916 words! (and not enough pictures)

Lolol, our hero awakes from a long slumber and decides to expand her base only to get killed by a random encounter with a jack... >.>

So, relatively straightforward. I just feel that new players might get crushed by the occasional wandering jack. Without faraday, you're forced to used Zeus (expensive) or spamming glaives.

Also, random units lying in ambush for unguarded constructors is very nasty of you. >=)

Didn't test it yet, but I suppose you get a factory? If so: Warriors, Ticks, Rockos, Sharpshooters should all work well against Jacks.

You get a cloaky bot factory. You don't get ticks or sharpshooters which is sad. Only Con, Glaive, Warrior, Rocko, Zeus, Hammer.

And warrior dies to jack. Well, I mean, you don't make cost against jacks unless you get the wreckage. Takes two or three of them to take down one.

I should probably enable Tick (even have a help trigger for it and everything).

Random tip: CAI Jacks are easy to bait around with Glaives.

Think of the new players! I can bait jacks around with glaives (or use the uber glaive dps if it goes after a random llt), but new players will see a super-tanky thing and die.

Tick can be introduced at a later mission maybe, just have the help tip for dealing with Jacks turn up earlier and mention the glaive bait. Perhaps after the second jack dies?

Great, had this basically done and then two jacks come out of nowhere and focus down my com. This is so annoying.

Holy jumping jacks Batman! Nice to see AI jumping units around, gives it a lot more lifelike feel.

Glaives handled the jacks with minimal micro, while on maneuver. Only had to dodge the jumps occasionally. Though new players might have problems with the jacks, indeed, since they require some knowledge to counter, and if not dealt with properly, can just steamroll over you.

Jacks aside, the opponent seemed kind of tame, which is good - first missions shouldn't be too intense, and the mission was still fun, even if not as hard as the prologue mission. It had the cozy feel of a small skirmish happening in some backwoods. Kind of reminds me of the first Arm missions of OTA.

Well done KingRaptor, thank you!

Noob here looking for a solo campaign, thanks to the author.

Spamming glaives worked well for me.

This mission is better than the first mission in Homeworld Deserts of Kharak.

-The commander has plopper icon but all factories are disabled until later.

-The hints given to player all about what units to use against what enemies.
I think that is not helpful in this case because enemy seemed to have random mix of units and so random mix of units plus turretspam is best option.

-I used lots of reclaim. For players not knowing about reclaim this mission seems like it could drag on for quite long time?

-All the Jacks jumping around could potentially be very annoying newbtrap for newb Commanders.
(Player leaves idle Com sitting around, then suddendly game-over with realizing what happend = frustation?)
At one point the message was "What can we do against those Pyros? Use a unit that can stun them" (or so) and excactly from that point on I never saw another Pyro again.

-I played from campaign, if there was supposed to be some story then I did not understand it. Why does it say "What does it feel like being alive again?" Was the Com dead?
The Commander looks at enemy and asks "Who are they?", should Commander not wonder why they look very similar to himself?
Why was there weapon-bunker that seemed to be useful for nothing?
What was "the transmitted Libby Code" about and how did it help in taking out the enemies?

I'm not sure this matters if we contend that the newbie won't know and doesn't need to know what the icon means anyway. But trivial enough to fix.

Covered in tutorial 2 IIRC?

Did you see the journals?

If yes: The details are clarified later on (in particular there's a big backstory infodump after episode 3). If it's still not clear, someone else will have to point out specifically which details are omitted.

If not: As PLrankOrfelius has made it a point of pointing out to me on more than one occassion, the fact that seeing the screen (if not actually reading it) is not mandatory is a problem with the presentation. I'm constrained by the web UI so there's limits to what I can do to fix this (at least without doing more things to the site code/DB than I think ought to be done). But the journal entires are linked from the planet/mission page so I'd have thought that was at least reasonably visible.

Why not just dump the journal as a bigass messagebox at the start of the game, during the black fade?

Also at the end, and when [Spoiler] (it also had a sequence which as far as I can tell is supposed to be alt-tabbed to?).

Is the CAI handicapped somehow? I have the feeling that it usually performs much better than it does in this mission. One can pretty much spam any unit at the CAIs base and win.

For the first mission I think this fits perfectly though, as the player shouldn't be overwhelmed while trying to get into the game.
