1 You dont want to make heightmap with gimp believe me you really dont. I made WWF RAW with gimp it was so much pain. Since I on linux there aint many tools specially for mapmaking but on windows there is plenty. Currently I make heightmaps with blender. But I have previous experience with it, and if you want to learn blender you have to put some time in learning hotkeys n stuff. 1 You dont want to make heightmap with gimp believe me you really dont.
