I think on land Archers are prety well balanced. But in water maps Archer is a stand alone unit.

Ducks die to splash dmg. Scallop is doing a nice job, but is too slow and too expensive. Buoys can't shoot them under water. Same for Grizzly. I just saw a match of two high level players one of them Just spamed Archers the other one tried a mix of units. The Archers won. After that game I tried Archer spam too. It worked. I don't know if this is just a problem in amph vs. amph or in whole sea balance. But it can't be wanted that you can win games with a single unit spam. Those who get more metal (Archers) win.
