Lost 2 dantes to a trollcom. Don't understand. Devs pls explain.

I thought you ment 2 Dantes fought together but they fought alone, 1. Dante engaged when already down to 60% hp, Dante cost 3500 metal Trollcom cost 8525 metal,
so that result should be normal.

2. Dante basically same story but this time the com was already worth 9525 metal so almost tripple the cost of a Dante.

Note it was a com with slowing weapons which is a strong mechanic, also fight was happening at "max range" and Dantes heatray weapon does significant less dmg on range than close up.

That's insane. Dante should be able to cook trollcoms of whatever level as long as they don't have disintegrator.

Dante isn't anti-heavy though, in fact probably the worst strider in terms of dealing with other heavy units. Dante dies to basically every demi-strider except maybe Jugglenaut.

Your first dante died to fighting an Ogre, a Grizzly, an Emissary and a trollcom while at half health. That wasn't a 1v1 duel.

The second dante is distracted killing another com and doesn't even fire at the trollcom (seems to prefer fleas in general) until it's at 4000hp (from a bunch of different things hitting it) and fully slowed.

Really don't know what you expect when you stack the odds so much against the Dante. A Minotaur could have killed it there, let alone a 9.5k metal trollcom.


That said, even a level 5 disruptor trollcom can kill a Dante if the latter doesn't micro well and if the Dante DOES micro well then even the level 11 will die. The Dante needs to either pull back for a kiting or close in for a kill, either will work, anything except stay at optimal range for the trollcom.

Remember that while the Dante is a moderately good skirmishing with the 460 range AoE Napalm Rockets, its Flamethrower and Heat Ray have much shorter ranges (effectively 320 elmo) but will chew through hp incredibly well. A couple of Dantes can get through 40k Detriment hp before dying!

It would be more accurate to say "Dante dies to Cyclops".
Unless you time your turn with Grizzly perfectly a Dante will catch and kill a Grizzly eventually and it has no trouble killing a Crab (of course in a real lob pot a Grizzly is a great Dante counter as sending a Dante 1000 elmo into the enemy lines chasing a Grizzly is suicide).

And even a Cyclops can die if microd poorly (either due to turret turn speed issues if it kites badly/uses unit AI or due to the heat ray if it gets too close).
