I like Google's idea the best. We also need a "sell" option for structures.

I like both Lichos and GoogleFrog's suggests. Saktoth's suggests is interesting but it is so different from current planet wars I have no idea how it would work out. I like the 1 ship per player.

If planetwars has trading I think, it should be for set diplomatic reasons and it should be faction based.

For example

Peace treaty for 10 turns afterwards defaults to war

Alliance for 10 turns afterwards defaults to war

Technology sharing for 10 turns afterwards defaults to war

Or trading planets

vassalage 10,000 credits per turn for 10 turns. Paying side gets all ip / influence / ownership present collected during those turns. Afterwards defaults to war.

Problem with faction based trading is that you would trade something that isnt yours (like a border planet)

I think it's cool that NOT A SINGLE of those concepts deals with ANY of the currently existing flaws of PW. Kinda confirms my theory that nothing will change at all.

You nubs might not realize, but PW is super stinky because of how turns and income/expenses work. The only big problem is that there's no fairness at all - ship producing structures have upkeep even though they don't produce anything, same applies to tech structures. You should stop your silly "theme" discussion (btw they all suck: command center wtf) and fix the very basic game rules, 'cause that's the only thing broken.

And whats wrong with that skasi? If you play you benefit more from structure, if not you dont..

If you play more often you already get more IP just from playing (ignoring ships), so why should you get EVEN MORE bonus by producing more ships? Why should a player with 1 ship factory get more ships than me although I have 5 factories?

They already get a dozen times more IP just from the 150IP per player thing, they already get much more ships, ip and credits because they check on PW twenty times a day and bombard, trade and repair their stuff the same turn it's destroyed or trade offers are put up.

You failed to convince me. If its entirely meta game based then metagame runs out of control. It was always meant to be integrated, not completely separate game floating in space.

If ships are produced always -> runaway ship production, no reason to play games (you can bomb etc)

If upkeep is paid only when factory is in use -> in effect no upkeep, because it would be rare.

If ship factories let you buy ships with money instead of making them for free after each game/each turn, would that make everyone happy?

My feedback is pretty simple, add HexFarm3 map (it is Random/Dynamically generated at startup) in PW (and another servers autohost if possible) if the map is compatible with start box or if another method can be used to start the game (its works in single play). Map link:

How about facs produce like 0.05 or 0.1 or so of a ship if not played and 0.5 if played? It doesnt make playing not worthwhile (playing people get like 10x more) and makes the fac not waste upkeep.
Also current PW is fine imo, stuff that apparently is a problem (runaway economy, fortress worlds, complexity) is actually not: just make techs more expensive, if someone made a fortress they had wasted a lot of resources on it or won there a lot so they deserve it and it can be skipped using jumpgate/bombed/whatever anyway, and there is no complex stuff, its simple really (play -> get IP -> most ip ? cap planet -> get income -> waste cash on crap -> repeat; even if there is something not immediately obvious it can get understood after glancing at manual or after 1-2 battles anyway).

Doh, I failed to convince you that your game's broken. Dang I fail. Did you even read what I wrote? My complains have nothing to do with the importance of the metagame. I'm pissed that I have near zero influence on the actual PW game because I'm not active enough, even though I play several games per day on average and am far better than the usual player, like some others.

Your "no reason to play games" argument is super lolfail, but I'm sure you already know. Players need to play games or they will neither be able to get enough IP for a planet nor a single credit to build ship producing facilities. If you think bombing is overpowered or playing not important enough then you can simply increase the number of bombers needed and basic per-player IP gain.

Oioioi I nearly forgot: People give planets to one another while they sleep so other people get to produce ships meanwhile. I don't think that's cheating, but mere an evidence that the system's imperfect.

I feel like right now it is too hard to recover from low funds. Only having 1 ship would help this a lot. Factions that porc around the edges have a massive advantage right now.

We could fully remove clans, and after everyone has chosen a clan, the clan leader is voted on.
