Who would be making said anime style video
[*]?
Anyway, apart from that, I guess I should give this a spin at some point. It sounds like this is a good foundation, but I can't really judge without trying it.
Okay, just gave it a spin, might as well write down thoughts as they come:
[Spoiler]-Seems like it might work as an interface
-Intro text is neat, but if it's going to require user input to continue that needs to be shown clearly
-J-pop intro, seriously? Other than
gajop (and not even then, really) neither the dev team nor the game has no connection to Japan, so this seems somewhat out of place. The images were well chosen, but the song is a bit distracting. Not inappropriate, it carries the apocalyptic tone really well, but the fact that it sounds like an anime opening theme feels like a stereotypical nerd first choice. Actually, the more I think about it the more I'm pissed off about the negative stereotype around J-Pop, especially as the intro music is quite fitting.
-It broke on fields_of_isis? Crap, I guess it's either not taking maps from the main folder or it's case sensitive (the map archive is Fields_Of_Isis.sd7
-Why did the intro play again after skipping the tutorial
-Okay it doesn't check maps in the main spring folder, nor does it check for games/pool.
-Nope, doesn't work with pool at all.
-Okay, there's clearly a bug with the intro playing every time a mission is about to start.
Alright, biggest issue is that the maps aren't included and it doesn't seem to recognize pool data for Zero-K itself. I'm not going to say that a Zero-K sd7 should be included as well due to its size, but the maps should be, or ZKL/SWL integration works too. The actual storytelling engine seems to do the job. Definitely a bit simple but I was invested, and the bits of camera shake, sounds, etc. did help with pulling me in. VA would be nice, but that's obviously not something to look at until the dialogue is finalized. However the intro needs to only play at the very very start, not midway through each mid-mission dialogue session, and there needs to be some indication that user input is expected, especially when it's just white text on a black background.
