There's probably nothing stopping you from going back to official Spring servers. Zero-K games should be playable just fine, with pretty much all its features working. Even commanders can be designed ingame now. Custom starting area polygons might not be supported.

Custom polygons are fully supported by the old server.

yeah you can launch the game with weblobby set to the spring MS. none of the autohosts are there of course, but I saw someone on private host.
