It's pretty hard(not efficient) for me to defend, and the only reason I don't get swamped is because my teammates have lots of units on the frontline. I know to make Radars btw Or is there no foolproof solution? Also, is Felon's shieldgun absolute speed 1shot per 0.15, or can it go faster? Could be useful..

If you have to defend, the way you defend is:
1) know what your opponent is doing
2) don't let them do it to your base

Sounds stupid simple, but many players seem to look for the 'one defense' that will solve being attacked - probably too much playing against AI.

In the midgame, you tend to want a mix of statics and fast response units. One of the reasons gunships are so good is because they can react to any attack in your territory and turn it into a donation. The general rule is that if their units are fast enough to outmaneuver your defenses, they're too weak to stand up to a defensive raider force, as they need to be super efficient in order to make up for giving you 100% of the reclaim. In the case of spiders, you need to see them coming early with fleas/radar, so that you can run game on them with venoms. I personally prefer to run light on defenses when I play as spiders, as they're very difficult to attack into anyway.

Did you play that Terran 3 mission in the original Starcraft where you have to survive against Zerg for 30 minutes?

The noob way of playing that mission is spamming missile turrets, bunkers packed full of marines, constantly repairing everything, and sitting put, waiting for evac in constant terror. Then the Zerg overrun you.

The correct way of playing that mission is assembling a strike squad of 6 marines and a couple firebats early on (like, at the third-fourth minute), dosing them with stims, and killing off the Zerg while they are few. Then go get some tea while the Zerg never attack you because they are dead. Because you killed them dead. And dead Zergs don't attack.

The morale of that mission and this post, lost on the majority of players who played it: the best defense is a good offense. And "good" means quick and lethal.

(you can also do that in protoss final mission in scbw, to a slightly larger scale. I don't know if wol/hots/lotv kept the tradition)

I think it generally wasn't true in Wings of Liberty [Spoiler] although there were exceptions to that rule [Spoiler]

Nah killing the zerg was how noobs did it. Float buildings and afk, receiving tea much faster.

Works on human opponents in WoL. Kill off first worker, load other 5 into TC and float to corner of map. Message opposing player [system error: desync]. They cheese and find an empty base, and by that point they're so far away from teching air to find you that their wishful thinking does the rest. #roadtosilver

Did it really work on that small map stocked full with mutas and hydras?

Brutal.

Your goal is to attack and pressure your opponont sucb that he cannot attack and you dont have to defend. But usually you will have to defend a bit. The best thing is to anticipate and adapt to your opponent. Make 1 llt per mex cluster/chokepoint is a good rule of thumb. Seize the defenders advantage by confronting your enemy's army with your army near your turrets.
When you know tbe enemy is moving towards a certain (important) location where you have builders, make llts (high priority). Works very well against comsnipes. A skirm/riot/assault push can often be stopped/slowed down by building a stinger in a chokepoint.
Faraday is good against shieldballs
Skydust is good to stop raiderballs or anything really
Newton is good against dbag spam.

Apart from that, spam defenders on the frontline :)
