If I recall correctly I intended for the AI to get fewer free units at a later time on easier difficulties but upon examining the file the difficulty-based changes are far smaller than I remember them being. I'll look into it.

+1 Walchice is sooo hard. I've tried only with cloakies so far, but after 5 attempts everything goes to downhill all the time. Can't raid, can't defend, ai goes around porc so it's kinda useless, can't expand... I'd love to see someone beat this on brutal with all objectives (which you really should do - killing fac).

Hardest thing on walchice is to keep the solars alive. Factory can be killed by ~10 glaives

Here is a replay of me and Znack beating Walchice on Brutal. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5kf6dhoh5nqeic1/20180202_170656_Archers_Valley_v6_104.0.1-151-g11de57d%20maintenance.sdfz?dl=0[Spoiler]Looking back at the replay, the enemy had a lot of units in the end that didn't really attack. I don't think we ever saw that Dante ingame.

Hebat (Brutal) Enemy commander jumps on water and stays there. I cant kill it (Didnt unlock terraform or Urchin), so I cant finish mission.

As a new player on normal Walachice is making me cry. I can't even imagine how to get to 12 metal extractors. I can barely hold on to my first 3 and then every time the wave at 12-13 mins crushes me. I even tried terraforming walls to barricade myself in. Tbh at this point I could probably just terraform highground just around the tech lab and sit on top for 15 mins, but I really don't wanna cheese it after 12 failed attempts. Also really frustrating since it unlocks the big laser turrets.

Walchice is four steps to win: 1) Build Convicts. You don't need other mobile units. You can use other builders, but i would recommend Convicts because their shield makes frontline operations safer. 2) Use Convicts to build an ever expanding network fo Stingers, occasionally supported by a rare Stardust. The enemy is cowardly and doesn't really have an answer to massive Stinger spam. 3) Use Convicts to reclaim wreckage from the enemies wasted by the Stingers. Use the metal to produce more Stingers. 4) As your Stinger empire grows, build extractors on conquered territory. The optional factory objective is achievable by an early rush of fast units, e.g. Glaives; or a highly upgraded stealth commander if you have the spare attention.

I'd like to try Convict blob sometime, it sounds more reliable than what I ended up doing. Walchice took me multiple tries on Hard; the thing that eventually managed to get me a win (but only one of the optional objectives) was level 4 commpush to bottom left (no cloak required, just 2 weapons and finding the gap between HLTs) and Glaive packs with an occasional Tick for support (counters Rogue/Buoy blobs, and you need them to raid all the mexes).

Walchice is horrble. I wasted over 3h, and still unbeatable. also I checked it's difficulty is normal. what? Stinger line is too easily wipes out by enemy tanks and artillery around 12m cuz arts shots far away and tanks are tough to endure stinger shots. I still think Amphibot or cloakbot units are not the problems. oh, Phantom was bad for this campaign in my tries. It was useless to block them. I want get tactics to beat this campaign without shiedbots. I don't have them now. Sorry for my bad english.

Walchice could have some difficulty indicator or be later in the campaign, as it's really hard without unlocking high commander level or lots of extra tech, like... shieldbots.

The problem is I wouldn't want to delay availability of Stinger for that long.

Perhaps Walchice could be reconceptualized as a Chicken defense mission, like on Sapphire?

I definitely agree that Walchice is too hard at the moment. My friend and I have been playing and have had very few defeats but then we hit this mission and it is like a brick wall. I see the feedback on how to win and I can't even fathom how those strategies work. Build the most expensive towers available on a map with very limited resources and somehow don't have them get hit with arty? Within a minute easy multiple metal extractors are under attack which makes economy worse, and towers aren't mobile so you can't react to different areas when they are attacked. This mission sucks major ass.

Hello all, loving the game so far! The Knights tend to bunch up when moving in a group, any way we can look into the move mechanics? Thanks, Excited fan

Walchice (Easy) Revisited: [Spoiler]I had already completed the mission long ago, but I didn't get any of the objectives. Now that I've done every mission now, I thought it was time to revisit this old mission.
My plan for this mission would involve making pushes against the enemy bases with Fencers, along with some Impaler support to better deal with the enemy Stingers, starting with the southwestern base. That way, I could reduce the chances that the enemy would overwhelm my modest defensive lines. However, I'd still need to deal with any Dantes that I face, so I opted to build some Dominatrices to quickly capture them, along with any other powerful assault units like Minotaurs or Jacks. Failing that, overwhelming numbers of Fencers would be my best hope.
Perhaps it isn't a fair assessment of the mission's difficulty when I'm bringing in stuff from later missions like Cadentem, Baosezu, or Ganong, but if I'm to be able to destroy an enemy factory, I would need units that could not only outrange Stardusts and Lotuses, but could reliably take out enemy raiders or skirmishers, and Fencers seemed to fulfill those needs well. Moreover, in order to deal with the enemy's Dantes, which could bust through a defensive line of Stingers without too much problems, I would need some kind of unit that could reliably deal with them, whether it's Dominatrices, Phantoms, Lances, or even my own striders. I don't know. Walchice seems to have been made with some later-campaign Rover or Cloakbot units in mind.
Still, even with all that I brought in, disaster almost struck me, as one of the enemy Dante's rockets hit some of the solar panels, setting them on fire. Fearing that one of these panels would burn to death, I rushed one of my builders there in an attempt to save it, though thankfully, the fire was extinguished while the solar panels were left at a quarter health remaining.

Tremontane(Brutal): I found it a bit strange to teach players to use Hacksaw against gunships rather than Razor.

For a long time in development Tremontane was against planes if I remember correctly. There ended up not being anywhere else good to put Hacksaw when it was changed to gunships. The mission which introduces Razor is also against gunships I believe. That being said, Hacksaw is pretty OK to build as a counter to Banshee. I've seen it done in serious 1v1 on rare occasions.

Hebat on Brutal Incredibly difficult and unreliable to not die at the start. I've had a lot of attempts where after 2-3 minutes a Jack simply runs over my lvl 2 commander. The flamethrower run circles around the knights and destroy buildings with ease. Placeholders occupy the starting force and when they are not too stupid to move into a corner stick around for way too long. I don't think the bonus mission is reliably doable at all when you don't have other units and an upgraded commander. Which is a shame. I still managed to do it, as there is a bug: When you load a mission, the timer resets. As in, the timer in the top right continues to count up, but for the bonus missions (and at the end of the game after victory) there is another mission timer that seems to reset whenever you load the mission. So you can save at 7:00, load, and have another 7:30 minutes to get 12 extractors up. I'm not exactly happy I had to find and abuse the bug, but on the other hand, this mission's side mission does not appear to be doable at all. Other levels I could rush with Glaives, but here, the roaming hoardes of flamethrowers (that somehow have perfect vision on your knights) are making it pretty much unbeatable.
