building a new PC - copy old zero-k or fresh install

Hi all. I'm finally upgrading to a custom built PC ans I'm wondering if there is any advantage to going with a completely fresh install instead of copying the steam/zero-k folder from my old machine. It looks like the maps folder is by far the largest amount of content.

There is no advantage to re-downloading all the maps so I'd advise you to copy them over (copying the maps beforehand into the appropriate folder ought to work I think?). Besides that, I'd either reinstall or find a way to tell Steam to copy it over for you, rather than copying it yourself.

I have a little advice copying files in steam. Install steam first, then move games into the files they should be, and steam will auto detect them so you don't have to re download it all. Steam also can set up a folder on every drive on your pc and has an interface to move install folders between those drives, but i don't think steam likes adding a folder filled with games to the file system, so just make a new folder and drag and drop. When I moved from non-steam to steam, I just copied all my maps over and they come up just fine in game, no re downloading and they show up fine in the in game map browser.

Thx got the advice. I'll load steam and then move stuff over by hand. It looks like Zero-k does a good job of not junking up the folders with lots of old versions. Looking forward to seeing what Zero-k looks like with all of the grahpics turned up. on userbenchmark.com my current machine ranks as a tree trunk.

The upgrade in visuals between low and high details aren't breathtaking. There's sooo much room in zk to improve the looks if there happens to be an artist (with programmer's soul) with too much time to spare... Or there's some community kickstarter to get a money to pay a professional to do that.
