Why not make mex also for metal storage and pylon for energy storing? But with option to switch it off an on for each building (at start all by default would be in no storage mode). So if i need storage i switch mex to metal storage mode. Switching mode would allow select mex who you want to use for metal storing in safe place while others is just off. It would allow stop useless storage spams from lobsters and motivate every player to make at least one mex at start. Players who effectively is using storage for storing large reclaim influx would not loose from such way because they always building mex. Also if somebody loose com team player anyway can donate him one mex and pylon. Or mex could store both energy and metal.

Some player even after 100 games don't know that metal inc is shared and cry like this as well. However mex is abundant. In most maps there should not be problem for each players got at least one mex as reserve storage.
Or same role could be done by factory but then would be problems if somebody got mass reclaim which he wanna keep only for himself.

What are you trying to solve? In my view the problem is that people don't understand how system works and waste resources by keeping them unused.

With your solution - no matter the default setting on mex-storages - when people will get they can "enable mex to be storage" they would just do it to feel happy they have lots of metal - same as now.

Why not make some annoying thing appear on screen (thinking about Microsoft Clippy) when you have metal unused? Bigger and bigger the more metal you have unused. This can be mildly annoying for advanced players that store to plop a desolator - but even that could be fixed by making a rank check before annoying too much...

Primary thing is about that to store 500 m/e i need building which costs 100 m/e. It mean 20% profit loss (bit smaller if storage is reclaimed). Not efficient way to store excess metal.

Well at start they will need to learn it. That will take some time anyway and some null AI players will never learn it. And they can't build them in masses. No more then they have mex. Plus they will be forced to build mex at start if they desire storage or even go in front to build if they want even more not just stay in base and porc all time.

That's indeed a big plus.

To avoid some of the "my mex" crying, maybe storage could be associated to a factory (plus would be not requiring storage built when you loss comm, which find it just annoying not adding anything to the game and making maybe more people plop)

I also had such idea but this mean that if factory can store only 500 m/e then you cannot store much reclaim. If another hand it will store more then 500 metal than it can make other problems.
