out of the 3 superweapons that are available, zenith seems to be clearly the worst performing one despite not being the cheapest

sure, maybe it has more range than drp but drp range is enough for the 90% of maps out there, drp is basically just a zenith with faster reload and bigger aoe and better debuffs to put on the enemy

maybe it needs buff or something? drp and starlight are both better by so much for their use cases (superweapon) that it probably can't hurt to buff this

tl;dr zenith sucks lol

Yep, many games this year where we tried to build Zenith... it does not pay off. I believe good solution is not to buff it, but maybe reduce it's metal cost to see how it will affect game balance.

ok, I look at this not from a teamgames only perspective, but influenced by FFA games.

There Zenith is often the perfect middleground between DRP and Starlight because it has a large AOE, good DMG and Range.

Especially against Striders, eg. Paladin and Detri, DRP always seems a little to weak.
Also against big Funnelwebballs, DRP is kinda weak.

Zenith would be better imo if it costed far more but pretty much 100% success on ending the game when it fires. Like, simply ludicrous power.

It could throw singus instead of meteors :D /s

The problem with Zenith is its inability to deal with other, terraformed superweapons, most notably Starlight. It shoots its meteors at an angle, so on maps like LLTAComplex, it has troubles destroying the other superweapon (eg. https://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/1226157 ). The solution would be to let meteors do much more terraforming (and it would make sense, why are like 5 snitches able to make a significantly larger crater in the ground than 30 fricking meteors), or make the angle from which Zenith is shooting its meteors smaller. Or allow it to summon instead of many small meteors one huge meteor which would do a lot of terraforming. Even DRP on high arc can rain down its projectiles almost from straight above, why not Zenith?
Zenith became worse than SL since the update, that allowed SL to terraform hills even if there were gausses or razors on top of them.

Regarding its damage output, I think Zenith is pretty good. It feels that it is not as efficient as DRP, because it takes like 15 seconds to gather an amount of meteors that can destroy a base, but if one wanted to destroy a similar (shielded) base with a DRP, he would have to shoot at it for a longer time.

Hmm what if you could have more ability to control how it fires - be able to use line move distribute individual meteors evenly along the line, like all orders work.

It would make it a much more versatile tool.

That would be so cool!

Zenfur

I think this would be much better. 2x its cost and leave the gather time, but each meteor hits like a nuke so it does end the game.

I would say it has it's place

Definitely not something for area control

But I would say it has a lot of Burst Damage potential since most of it's damage is concentrated in one small area

I honestly think the meteors should do some type of AOE with fire or something, like when they hit the ground it bursts into flame and this small wave goes out around it doing some fire damage, I mean, the meteors are flaming before they hit the ground anyways.

Yes I think it's probably the best superweapon at taking out giant shield balls, but correct me if I'm wrong (because I haven't seen much Zenith since it doesn't get used) because I am not completely sure if they go through shields that easily or not, but I thought they did.

Ideally it firing 200 meteors would test the game engine's ability to handle 200 giant, terrain deforming explosions. A prime concern when firing one should be whether your own base will still be there after the dust has cleared. There is no need for moderation when talking about a game ending tool

Another thought about Zenith: would it be possible for it to have its beam color change as the number of asteroids it has increases? It would definitely be useful for the owner/teammates of the Zenith, but would it be good gameplay if the Zenith globally broadcasted its charge status?
