Every game is a paladin rush, who rushes paladin wins. Who doesn't loses. It's not fun since nothing else matters.

Dont you think it will fix itself given enough time?

No because it works.

Trollcoms, Krow-, Dante-, Juggernaut-, Nukerushes also worked when they were discovered - and today? none are worth a mention anymore.

Experimenting with Racketers myself. Im optimistic it will be step towards adressing the "none expanded at start" games.

Should it really get unbearable and we get a ulti buff out of it - i would consider it a win.

The pala can only take 1 lane

We almost had it if not for the lobsters throwing north, sucessfully stalled with Racketers.

DErankSnowlob guy says he's gonna rush paladin, instead he rushes ultimate and lets it sit in base. No paladin was rushed.

In an attempt to make a counter-argument that the rushing of any unit would have similar effect, I tried rushing minotaurs without about 4 other lobs. It, uh. It didn't work out too well.

Paladin rush doesn't win every game: http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/1423436

(This was probably lost before somebody did something stupid with the Paladin and a Hercules.)

I don't think Paladin should be nerfed for the sake of 16v16 games on small maps.

Some idea of how common this is would be good. What is the winrate of the strategy and what kinds of maps does it work on? Typical replays would be useful too. All we've got so far are replays showing it not working as easily as the OP claims.

Can't wait till Ultimatum gets buffed again. Ulti used to be the answer to a lot of problems but it feels too expensive and fires too slowly to be of much use anymore. It was fine as it was. ZK is a great game but imho the devs have a habit of 'fixing' non problems. And while I'm complaining, Stardust sucks now as well. It was in the 'slightly strong' bracket once upon a time and now it is in the 'weak trash' bracket.

Googlefrog, the winrate of rushed Paladin feels quite high to me. Paladin is counterable if the team works together but all too often its a rushed Paladin smashing down whatever is in its lane while the rest of the team does whatever in their own individual actions.

In a sense a Paladin represents the metal investment of a team working together against the metal investment of another team not working together.

I remember that a team with 2-3 facs spamming nothing but Dirtbags managed to consistently sandbag a Paladin rush until it was killed. The team must work together.

In that sense a rushed Paladin is a game defining weapon.

Lulz, winrate is directly in relation to who is micromanaging the Paladin. Give it to a newbie and it dies in 15 seconds. That's why high Elo players rush it and ask the team for assistance.

For AUrankAdminGoogleFrog:

  • 1. Paladin only works when you have at least 10 players on your team. At least 8 to assist and redirect early metal to it.
  • 2. Paladin can easily be countered by dirtbags/bombers/racketeers and scouting.
  • 3. You lose lots of map control when rushing Paladin. If you do this tactic on a large map you simply lost the game.
  • 4. Tactic only works well on maps that don't rely on expansion. Medium maps are perfect for Paladin rushes while large maps will make the tactic fail.
  • 5. With a 5K metal investment in bombers, Paladin will have a hard time attacking the frontline because of its low HP. It needs constant repairs if the enemy air player does things decently.
  • 6. Paladin rush is a tactic that requires cooperation. If you don't have that in your team it's clearly useless to rush it.
  • 7. If the enemy has cooperation on counter-tactics like dirtbags/bombers/racketeers then the Paladin is useless again.
  • 8. It's highly risky when rushing Paladin because if you lose it, your team loses it. I can tell from experience that it's 90% a loss rate when your Paladin rush fails.

Also if you want to find Paladin rush games AUrankAdminGoogleFrog search for my user with EMP Award. That should easily bring you tons of matches where 90% of them were a win rate in my case.

An example of a "cancer" rush where the enemy "didn't expect" Paladin rush aka unknownrankTinySpider when fighting against me: Multiplayer B1424445 27 on IncultaV2
