Ravager OP?Potential nerf suggestion

Wanted to just make a forum post to start a discussion on ravager.

Ravager having a near raider speed of 88.5 and a large health pool and being able to combat some raiders makes it an extremely frustrating unit to deal with for many. Usually when a small ball forms it can just go buck wild into bases and deal significant damage before being dealt with due to this speed/health.

A potential idea in a nerf would be to lower its speed to somewhere more average such as 84. It would still be the fastest assault but give players a more reasonable window to deal with it. Just food for thought.

Hoping to people commenting on whether they think it is OP or not and whether they have any suggestions.

agree, ravagers are way too powerful for their cost, its a similar situation like with the old hermits.

ravagers on their own are already scary enough, but if you mix them into a proper army they become almost unstoppable.

i think they need their cost increased slightly (or health or speed reduced)

If you think Ravager is too fast to be balanced as an assault, I have a Halberd to sell you.

Halberd atleast is easier to deal with raiders then ravager is. The halberd has much less effective HP vs raiders then a ravager.

I've been early teching ravager vs heavy tank in my 1v1s lately. I 'member back in the days where the idealized redcomet 1v1 was energycell com morphing and expanding forward while the factory mass produced scorchers, into mass producing ravager. Ravager was nerfed back then, a hit to speed and projectile velocity, which increased leading and time to hit on moving targets, giving players more leeway to dodge with scorchers.

Since then, we've also had superfluid and ravager HP buffs. Due to superfluid, ravager needs an additional shot to kill glaives and scorchers, and raiders deal less dps. A couple assaults have been slowly gaining HP/cost over time (cough hermit cough) leaning more heavily into the tanky but a little generalist, suited for retreat and repair (cough). Ravager has increased hp a little bit, and runs as the little car in the 'tank' line, ravager > minataur > cyclopse. Also, that projectile velocity nerf? it's swung in the other direction now, ravager can hit moving targets OK.

I like the changes to ravager. It's awful annoying to use a unit that literally can't hit it's mark so I don't like slow cannon weapons. Ravager is (almost) unique with it's speed as an assault, shining in flat open ground. Have you tried to use ravager on Ditched? it kinda sucks a whole lot. Also, ravager has trouble maneuvering around fields with metal wrecks. Ravager also still suffers from commitment problems, due to poor turret turnrate, you need to be careful when making 180 degree turns or you will lose an entire fire cycle attempting to point it's barrel at it's target.

I think people should know Ravager is strong and keep using it in 1v1, see if rover truly just beats heavy tank, or if casual veh switch into Ravager is a winning meta. My intuition says that Ravager isn't that dominant, even though I've seen both examples. Let it marinate more.
