Don't like having a copper league. It taking up the reddish brown leaves bronze looking a dull muddy brown instead, and as any metallurgist will tell you, bronze is mostly copper anyway. Stone or lead maybe? The others are splendid, of course. Wide Elo bands per league aren't a problem under the circumstances (we're trying to hide Elo values anyway).

I agree with Pinguinpanic and swappan. Elo is more important than level and 200 elo difference is too big. I'd like to see chevrons being used for elo and leagues for level. Something like: lvl 1-10 copper, lvl 11-25 bronze, lvl 26-45 silver, lvl 46-70 gold, lvl 71+ diamond

Having the big banner would be cool, they are nice looking. But I think it will be challenging to create them similar if you are restricted by mere 16x16 .. And they have to be so similar you instantly recognize same level in banner and icon.

Is there really a need to show every single level up to 100? Current accuracy is fine. One thing that would still be cool, would be a big star icon (like the current biggest rank) for those who are level 100+.

No you can't because it requires that it be meaningful to the players in the lobby, and look somewhat reasonable good after that. No progress so far because I've been working overtime this last week, but I'll have some time during this weekend.

How about adding "progress bar" to ranking .. progressbar between this and next "big" level , that way only 2 rows of height or width are taken and perhaps it can be made looking ok?

Thats higher than text in ZKL. It should match height of text, its already a bit higher than default font.

Not really feeling this route, as 9 levels fits awkwardly into 16 pixels. If I make level progression more than 1 pixel each time, the ends look inconsistent. If it is only 1 pixel progression, a full bar will just be a little over half the icon width/height. Anyone is welcome/encouraged to show me otherwise, but I just don't think that you can have 100 levels in that size and still look clear/nice.

How about you make 2 pixels per level but do it symmetrical from both sides until you meet in middle. You start by doing pixels one line above it and when its final (9) it will look like this smile:
