Well I kind of suggest to rebrand "human controlled chickens" as "chicken master gamemode" (multiple masters possible).
And I want to ask, if it's possible to create separate Springie autohost with next rules:
1) no balance, players select teams on their own.
2) !start will NOT work unless there is at least one chicken bot of any difficulty on any team.
3) modoption playerchickens=1 all the time. (we could also make this default on in next stable maybe?)
Since this gamemode is more like mission, it has no impact on elo. Yet it still requires splendid teamwork for robots side to defeat the "hive mind". :)

Also to those who don't know: yes, you can control chickens and fight against robots now. Currently you need to do next things to play this:
1) say !setoptions playerchickens=1
2) add chicken bot to any team
3) forcestart
The team with chicken bot will play as chickens against all other teams. Random player gets queen in the end.
Have fun!

P.S. players don't get roosts in this gamemode, as well as /take is disabled for roosts, so they can't selfd them and just get queen in 5 minutes. :D

I think that this would be a good idea. Playing as chickens is really fun (as long as you dont end up playing at 2 fps like we did in testing).

The lag was much worse with computer controlled chickens because the chickens kept getting stuck. What I didn't like about playing chickens is that we were stuck with standard pink swarm chickens against stardusts for about 6 minutes. I would suggest that for human controlled chickens the chickens ought to be slightly rebalanced, I cannot say what though because I have not played chicken master games.

If the chickens teched faster, the robots would have absolutely no chance. As it is, it would be a major step up in difficulty if the humans could choose which sort of chickens to spawn based on tech level.

eg. you can click a panel that controls the composition of the next wave.
Start with only swarmers, then you unlock pigeons, then spikers. After that you get cockatrices and spidermonkeys. And so on.

I dont see what would be wrong with being able to select what units you used as long as you unlocked them first (swarmers > pidgins > etc). This would end situations of having only cockatrices against lots of DDMs.

But wouldn't you be spawning only strongest avaliable units in game this way?
It's pretty hard to find compromise and keep it as closest to traditional way of playing chickens as possible.

Probably the other way is to make a modoption for chickens to spawn with chicken factory instead of burrows, but then it's even more unbalanced, robots just need to make nuke and wipe them out. Because chicken's last chance to win and OP queen. :)

I dont think ti would end up with only the strongest chickens being used. For example if the robots have lots of stardusts do you attack with cockatrices or spikers and lobbers? Another example would be if the robots are using snipers against your cockatrices, you would switch to swarmers.

I think it would work out, like how with most robot factories units are not better than other units, just used in different situations.

Maybe instead just allow chickens to morph? (without exp, chickens get free resources anyway, don't they?)

well roostes give 2.5 metal and tubes some energy BUT they dont have any storage

It's probably possible to give free storage size without actual building.
