Me and some others get lagspikes with newest zk version. Is that problem already known? Windows and Linuxers
What infos you need?

I've noticed lags came few versions ago. Thought it was only me.

My symptoms: it's random. Game runs smooth, then 1 sec lag, then smooth again. After I press Alt-N lag tremble in fear and don't appear before I close Alt-N.

Could be a GC issue?

Firepluk said he solved this by disabling deluxe player list.
THis doesn't help for me. :-( Also when u click options in deluxe player list it needs a bit to load and freezes whole game for 2 seconds or so, dunno if it was same behaviour before.

If you are using proconsole 2 this will happen each time you receive a text message.

Okay will try that later... and I remember a similar problem a while ago, but that many players complained about that join / leave lag spike.

I disabled proconsole2 and activated proconsole1, still the same on leave / part / resign

I can confirm it lags at least on any new player join (with or without proconsole).

I can also notice some lagspikes that come out of nowhere and are not even being noticed by the playerlist.

In this battle http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/327019 I had a dozens huge spikes, similar to those exprienced in the 0.98 engines.

I was spec.

The exit process at the end was also much longer.

This is the first time I have that. My last game before this one was yesterday :

It may be something changed in the meantime in the code.

Sounds like it is time to remove delux player list.

So what am I supposed to use for casts then? I'm fine with Crude for playing, but I need something like Deluxe for casting, to know what each player has and to show that to the viewers.

Has anyone besides Firepluk reported that disabling deluxe player list solves the problem?

Chesti reports that disabling it does not solve the problem.

Next time you guys get spikes, enable the widget profiler (under the developer category?) and see what causes them.
May be more accurate than removing deluxe player list.

CArankAdminShadowfury333 local widgets exist

Okay, but I'd like spectators in general to be able to quickly and easily assess what sort of economic situation everyone is in.

I wrote Deluxe [*] because I wanted all of that information while spectating. If it turned out to be useful to players in-game as well, so much the better, but making a better in-play player list was a secondary goal at best.

As Shadowfury333 and I have discussed a few times, what we really want (need!) is a great spectator interface. But that's a lot of work. Adding a few vital statistics to the player list was quick and easy. So that's what we've got, at least for now.

Even if Deluxe is causing lag spikes, /and/ nobody takes the time to figure out the reason and fix it, /even then/ it would still be better IMHO to just not make Deluxe the default (isn't that the case already?) rather than remove it from the repository entirely. Leaving it in the repo as shared code lets the handful of people with an interest in it continue to maintain it jointly. Otherwise, those of us who do find value in it would each keep it as our own separate local widgets, but not get the benefit of each others' improvements. That would be a loss to the community, even if only a small one.

And surely Shadowfury333 and I can't be the only two people interested in this kind of statistics, whether as players or specs. Right?

[*] I didn't "write" Deluxe. I just extended the existing Crude player list a little bit. All the real work had already been done by people much more talented than I.

Both Deluxe and Crude are awful because they regenerate themselves whenever any player joins or changes state. They should be replaced regardless.
