A demonstration of how to mask economy start, at first.

USrankFealthas did everything right and played well but.. how the hell does he make such a giant rookie mistake in not even trying to expand west?? His only expansion was with commander, then much later on he took corner with a con.

Should have been a much shorter game with those terrible early trades which CArankAdminShadowfury333 said was "worth it" aha but RUrankivand just had much more metal to work with because he actually expanded like normal people do.

Funny how RUrankivand kind of ruined his own chances later on by blindly firing expensive napalm missiles all over the place endlessly. Though the decision to go missilo silo was definitely correct, I think he could learn to use it better. Tactical nuking enemy com is usually very easy tbh, would have liked to see that.

Silo is obviously not going to do everything, you have to do a good amount damage with a few surprise missiles then use that window of opportunity while enemy is recuperating to build a bigger army and strike. If you give the enemy all the time in the world with no pressure then they will just rebuild energy and nanos and make aegis like USrankFealthas managed to do.

I didn't think I would have enough to defend the west. In retrospect, I should've made half as many ducks in the early game and used that to make clams instead(more greed, less defenders).

What trades did I say were "worth it"? I'm rewatching the game and I can't find where I said that. The only terrible trade I can think of is Fealthas attacking the north-east, and I didn't say it was "worth it", I said the defense using only a few ducks was moderately efficient. Rewatching it I realize that I wasn't clear that by "efficiency" I meant how much of RUrankivand's army was being devoted to that area of the map.

Also, USrankFealthas could probably have won it if they had realized they were the only one with units at the start. It's one of those things that benefits from hindsight, but I really did get the impression that USrankFealthas played with the assumption that RUrankivand had a much larger defense and army than they really did. USrankFealthas is the only one who knows for sure, but I get the impression there were a lot of bad reads early on that RUrankivand used well. Shame the missile silo didn't do much, given how big of an economic focus it was.

It's much easier to defend than it is to attack in early game, ducks are really easy to hold off, which is why most of RUrankivand ducks died really easily when they tried to attack USrankFealthas com and then USrankFealthas didn't attack west with his own ducks, he knew they would just die.

What I was talking about was how in first 5 mins RUrankivand had lost most of his units in awful trades and you were congratulating him because he "masked" his expansion by being aggressive. Really all he did was throw away his units. Building 2 clams is not a big investment, it barely deducts from your army, not that your early game army really matters, like I said it's very easy to defend in early game. There is no good reason not to do it. Having 1 or 2 extra ducks can't even be compared to the value of taking all your expansions.

This basically applies to all maps, which is why it doesn't make much sense to me to say "he masked his economy". Being really aggressive and distracting your opponent can often be good to mask a naked expand but regardless of how much porc they make while doing so, you can usually just assume that your opponent is aiming to capture his side of the map (unless they're idiots like Fealthas).

GBrank[Fx]Drone, bear in mind, I generally try (not always successfully, mind) to find something possibly good, some silver lining, about the player's actions, unless it is clear they were bad. Otherwise I end up coming off as a know-it-all jerk when I'm wrong, as I had done when I first started casting. At least if I'm trying to find something good and I'm wrong, whoever I was talking about doesn't feel insulted.
