Thinking up relatively simple widgets and UI additions that would be super useful ingame! If anyone has made one of these and feels like sharing, super kudos.

Scatter

Hold a button and draw a circle. Units are evenly distributed in a grid within this circle.

Would be awesome for: swarms of small things like glaives, escaping roachplosions.

Circle guard

Hold a button and give a guard order. Units will try and maintain a ring around the unit even has it moves around. More units = larger ring.

Would be awesome for: guarding heavies with a ring of dirtbags, fleas, jethros.

Swift escape

When a swift takes sufficient damage for its chicken mode to take it to airpad, it immediately engages boost if boost is charged, for instant escape.

Hungry Puppy

Puppy that is stationery, set to yellow or green move state and is within short distance of being able to hoover a wreck, will move to be in range of the wreck.

Solar Con

Simple state button that gives idle con order to make x solar next to any mex that doesn't have a solar next to it.

Auto bury

If you attack-click on a unit from a list of units (reaper, Golly, Dante, Bantha etc) with a con selected, the con automatically tries to dig a hole under the unit. It updates every second to account for the unit moving.

Firepluk has this one, uses it for trollcom fkea shielding. Looks awesome, like ants from Links 2 3 4

Aren't custom formations enough for this? I always just draw a circle around my group of raiders as soon as I see a Roach.

I am not 100%, but I think I've seen something like this before. Might've been DErankXivender. He made some widget for Eraser+Roach combo and iirc also one to auto-screen for striders. Again, I might be wrong here.

I too want this! Something like "Area mex" but instead of queuing a mex for every spot, queue a solar next to every spot. This might become obsolete once the "Eco AI" I've read about somewhere else gets released though. If I understood it correct EErankAdminAnarchid and some other people were working on algorithms to link grids and similar.

Scatter - This is already pretty easy to do with line move. I think I would just continue to use line move because it does not require an extra button press or hotkey.

Circle Guard - Needs a good UI. Holding a button to activate alternate mode is a bad UI. We currently have an area guard command. Perhaps if a unit is at the center of an area guard command it could activate circle guard on that unit at that radius.

So the UI would be:
  • Point click guard command on a unit = Current behaviour.
  • Area guard command with unit at the center = Guard with circle radius of circle command size.
  • Area guard command with ground or feature at the center = Queue normal guard command on all units in area.

Swift Escape - Already occurs. Currently it waits half a second or so to make sure the Swift is facing in a good direction. This could be improved with a heading check.

Hungry Puppy - Sounds useful but I would only activate it on Roam. Roam sounds like a good name for that type of behaviour.

Solar Con - Sounds better as an area command.

Auto Bury - It would need to be a gadget to deal with latency. I would include the gadget if someone wrote it though.

"Roam" state sets how happy unit will chase enemies = Imo for military behaviour.
Eating is not military, cons on "roam" do not auto-eat either.
I thought: "Have Fight and Patrol-commands makes puppy go to wrecks! That would be in line with Cons behaviour!" But then: Would be annoying if you if want to attack with fight command and puppy stops to eat. A state-toggle for such small, short-lived units is cumbersome imo.
Maybe a fake reclaim-command? Draw area-reclaim and puppies eats all wrecks in circle..Copies command to its offspring.

It might be good to have a uniform unit death explosion radius avoidance for both friendly/enemy units, it could be both useful for anti-Skuttle and avoid chain explosion for crawling bombs/Blastwing etc.

Yes, especially now with the more aggressive overdrive for that 1st Solar*, having an alt-mode for the Area Mex function that builds Solars would be excellent.

* if I'm reading the long debate properly, 1 solar used to increase output of a mex by 22%. Now it does 35%.

There's any number of great things that could be done with avoidance, but avoidance is algorithmically hard. Raiders auto-avoiding anything that riots them, cloaked units auto-avoiding anything that would decloak it, support units avoiding *everything*, etc.

yes and other aa does too, however all aa weapons do only a fraction of damage vs non-air targets.

Circle Guard is now ridiculously awesome.

My next biggest want is auto-bury of enemy heavy units by right clicking with cons.
