Pathfinding hasn't gotten worse! You must be forgetting units which where stuck on terrain all the time. That barely ever happens now. Anyway, regardless of what you think of current pathfinding, I challenge anyone to find a regression. The "pathfinding is worse" meme is one of those damaging myths, similar to "Spring only uses one thread".

Thanks for all the linking Capricis, also the colour choice is quite pretty.

However, there are no VODs for Loser's Round 1, so that's a bit confusing.

I should hope not.

Godde has not logged into zK since months but played in NOTA-mod tourney recently.

What does this tell us about the meme "spring mods should each have their own isolated lobbies and installers" and "players only want to play spring game and obviously that one game is [ours]" ...

I did that to make sure games aren't spoiled for anyone who might care. I understand that might be exactly zero people, but... Still don't want to change it. Hopefully it's not too annoying...

A bit, but there is no point talking to you.

Actually pathfinding has gotten relatively worse. Units didn't use to take stupid paths that they cannot take and canceling said orders. That being said: I'm happy that it actually got fixed in 101.

Ok, I can't quite parse what you're saying but I have not seen an increase of units taking stupid paths. Although, you say whatever it is you are talking about was fixed so I guess that is fine.

Maybe saying worse isn't technically correct, still I don't wanna think about all the issues I and my AI ran into with engine pathing. I don't trust the pathfinder to find the shortest(time wise) path.

When you then add deformable terrain it gets unusable for distances > 200 elmo. Also it isn't accurate enough for positioning spiders on cliffs(because 2D map).

What the CSI Pathfinder does differently: Avoid steep hills/narrow passages, stay in formation/don't cluster, civilians avoid enemy contact. This relies on Spring pathing for the elmo level accuracy though, it's a simplified version of how a player has to correct unit paths.

One issue that is new to me is units actively running into and getting stuck in Strider nanoframes.

That said I don't think Spring's pathfinding is worse than similar games. But if somebody asks me whether I feel a difference between 91 pathing and 101 it is not the case for me (and I'm not gonna lie). A noticeable improvement would be the addition of some boids like behaviour that avoids all your raiders clumping at the first corner.

I think that units not only getting stuck on strider nano frame but any units nano frame [all nano frame maybe].

if you look at the path map, the nano frames are not registered [area look green, passable], so they are "not seeing" those things. in computations, they are "not there.

it's not the pathfinder fault, it is the passable terrain check fault.

In this type of discussion everything is called the pathfinder. Blocking checker, path follower, pathfinder, unit bumping etc...
