In many cluster games, there is a point where I don't know what to do with my metal (cant face to porc or cant mange a ton of things). So I share my metal to the top player in my team until I find something to do. I have to continually check my metal bar and play with the tab menu to share metal to a good player.
This is quite annoying.
May we have an option to do that automatically?
It would make my life easier.

being exessed TO isn´t that comfortable either.

I like the idea of excessing automatically being slanted towards the higher elo players. That might make being the high elo carry of the team a little more bearable!

Invisible +50 m/s when you have 3 caretakers by your factory, bar says +26 but full???

Builld 5 caretakers, but the excess stops now 90 BP factory on 26m/s and your team is calling you a blue caretaker spamming noob.

Excess to top teammate? Well depends on how u define "top teammate".

Im often top damage dealt, value killed, units killed, coms killed and 0 value lost with scylla!

I assume this chooses the best teammate by the same algorithm it chooses who receives the idle units and the extra commanders.

Which is if you think of it, consistent.

Presumably top player excessing wouldn't be too big a problem as anything they weren't using would then filter down anyway?

But yeah, the Steel dilemma seems to be a problem. Besides, while the top player would make better use of this metal than the average player on the team, at any given point in the game, they might not actually be the person who needs it most. The middling other guy being pushed back in the 1v2 situation would need it more.

Perhaps a smarter solution would be for players to be able to nominate a player of their choice for receiving excess in the first instance? That way, groups within the team could coordinate (and possibly if you have a few dark blues or purples, each of them gets a boost from some of their team mates).

I'm not convinced changing the flow of excess would really make a noticeable difference though.

To be clear, I don't think all excess metal should be piped 100% to highest elo player. I think the distribution should just be biased towards higher elo players.

If you pipe all excess metal to top player, firepluk will be sprinting to the shiny faster than ever.. nobody wants that

Firepluk is rarely the highest elo player in teams.

Zero-k can kind of be a game where if you have more metal you win in all situations. So if a 'lesser' player gets all the excess, depending on the player(doesn't spam pylons, doesn't spam stingers) Just having extra metal can increase their power and let them win a 'lane' that they aught not to have won anyway.

This is how it works right now, if you are high elo you carry the team by controlling more mexes so your teammates fight with a metal advantage. It is fine.

After the point of team auto-balancing elo has no effect on the game afaik, except distributing resigned units and extra commanders. This is also for the best.

This could be an option.

Excess goes to...
O fireman's singu team's most skilled player
O everybody, but biased towards pros
⚫ everybody equally

And how do you determine a "high ranking player"?

So you are telling me that if the team is excessing and I'm lucky enough to have a complete lobster like Firepluk or @_Shaman on my side, they would get all the excess metal?

Nope, thank you!

Not all "high ranking" players are actually doing good for their team.

Elo is already a fraud as it is by destroying the balance in team games, please don't make it worse.

Coming back to the original point though, I would like the utility to control who my excess goes to in a clusterfuck. Metal to the top player and metal to the bottom player of your team is a stark difference; one is a win condition, the other is probably just an indirect gift of metal to the other team.

shouldnt be that hard to make a widget for selective excess

I believe it has been done, too. Except that being a widget makes it opt-in and your archetypal corner-storage lobster will not do it.

side hint:

AUTO afk already determines the "highest ranked" player. I would add this requirement too:

share metal to the player who had the highest unit value or has and killed most stuff. So you can easily exclude trolls like Firepluk or Shaman
