what would be if lobster gets a slight range and fire rate buff, so that when jumping around with multiple linked lobsters, the flight time and reload time are in sync

What do you mean?

Lobster has a reload time of like 7 seconds. Lobbed units take about 4 seconds to land. using 2 lobsters to leap around the field does mean you're stuck with this 3 second window of being some kind of ground-kissing boring-ass leg-using sucker. But I think it's alright in the long run.

What if you used 3 lobsters?

you would be able to double jump once

Using 2 lobsters and 2 placeholders with impeccable timing theretically allows indefinite ascent:

0.000: Both Lobsters simultaneously launch the whole congregation upwards. This means they both also get launched.
- Lobsters now need 8.5 seconds to reload.

1.500: In about 1.5 seconds, at peak of the launch trajectory, placeholder 1 fires.
- Black hole lasts 13.3 seconds.
- Placeholder now needs 14 seconds to reload
- Lobsters still need 7 seconds to reload.
- The whole assembly hangs in the air, reloading.

8.500: Lobsters reload and fire again, gaining more altitude.

10.000: The climbers are again at peak. Placeholder 2 fires.
- Placeholder 1 still has 5.5 seconds before it can fire again.
- Placeholder 2 now enters 14 second reload.
- Lobsters still need 7 seconds of reloading

17.000: Lobsters are ready to fire again. So is placeholder 1. The cycle is complete.

Can placeholder hold 2 lobsters and 2 placeholders in a black hole? Also, lobbed units are still fully affected by physics, and I know from experience placeholder can hold lobbed units suspended mid air, does that mean lobbing units won't escape the black hole? There's also some abritrary height level where lobster tosses units much more shallow that gfrog added to nerf lobstervator. Is this anything that made it past the theory crafting stage?

Lobbed units escape black hole in my experience. However, if it becomes a problem, you can wait until the black hole dissipates before firing the lobsters again.

Theoretically this would allow you to do this with just one placeholder, because - again, assuming perfect timing - the duration of lobster launch should give Placeholder the little time it needs to reload before firing again.

The nerf made it unable to pick units off the ground while being in the sky itself. Units which are at the same level as the lobster itself are iirc still given the full strength treatment.

With merely human micro i have been able to do this for 2-3 jumps at most before the thing destabilizes.

Lobsters being able to chain-jump feels all sorts of broken. In fact I dare say lobsters would be OP if more people bothered using them/knew how to use them. I once saw a dude use a few lobsters to keep jumping scallops around and it was ridiculously effective, since it completely eliminated the main weakness of the scallop (being slow) which is supposed to be the counterweight for its amazing DPS.

Djinn is even better at moving things around than a lobster chain, and is in the same factory, but it isn't broken.

Not really, Djinn can teleport them once, which is great, but he can't them keep jumping them around for a tactical advantage.

Djinn has unlimited distance and the entry point can be dropped anywhere on the map.

Oh, I thought it could only drop the lamp near itself. That does sound very OP and makes me wonder why I don't see him used more often. Then again, I never use it either because it never occurs to me =)

it's so much easier to work on fronts and with movement than with teleportation. Teleportation can often lead straight to death when improperly used. Also, moving from one front to another doesn't sound strong to me, I'd just prefer to barrel down a lane. Lobster gives a much stronger advantage to most of my gameplay, because it functions as the only real gap closer like a blink dagger. Scallops can use lobsterr to counter recluse, but scallops can never use a djinn to counter recluse.

Djinn is best built from Athena anyways.

Thing is, you can use the Djinn backwards (to evacuate units from the front rather than to deliver them there). If Djinn can place down lamps from across the map, it means you can evacuate any unit that is in trouble from anywhere, at anytime, if you can bother to micro it. That's potentially really OP, albeit I'm yet to try it myself.

There was a game where Firepluk used a Hercules to Dante drop in the back, then used a Djinn to drop a teleportation beacon right next to the Dante to pop it back to safety right before the cavalry arrived.

you can djinn silo-subs into frontline ponds with already stacked missles, kill singus and stuff, teleport out.
