why did i get 2 coms? NOrankAdminKingstad is higher ranked in both 1v1 and casualranking regarding ladder? this also happened here: https://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/1591249

i got around 200 elons less according to ladder (but not according to stats)

is the ladder a lie?

My understanding is that the ladder is only approximately true. The rating from the site is some sort of probability distribution, but the ingame rating (used for sharing) is just a number. Something is lost in the transfer, and apparently it doesn't always make sense.

My understanding is that under the ladder points is the WHR system which changes player's scores in an unrestrained fashion. The underlying WHR system will update across the board for games played, menaning when you don't play but other people do, your underlying WHR will change to reflect the updated WHR landscape(which people don't like because number). If someone doesn't play for a while, there can be a large discrepency between the ladder score and the underlying WHR score(think 25 points for a week or 100 points for a month). The balancer uses the underlying WHR score instead of ladder score, and the chart system uses [I'm not certain but something that relies on both], but what is displayed is the ladder score on your profile and the ladders. When there exists a discrepency between your WHR score and your ladder score, your ladder score will not change unless you play a game. When you play a game, based on the result of that game(win or loss) your ladder score will have a much larger change than expected when the game outcome pushes your ladder score in the direction of your underlying WHR score. As an example, if you have 2300 ladder and 2400 WHR, a win will net you about +25 ladder score, but a loss will net you -0.6 ladder score. This will over time update ladder score only when a user plays, but also push ladder score to stay in line with underlying WHR. When there's little discrepency between WHR underlying and ladder score, this is when you see very little change between your 4th through 8th games in a day.

For whom gets the units: current rating is used, not ladder rating.

Kingstad threw away rating during FFAs. Yet he hasn't played enough games for it to be noticeable in ladder rating.

Also note there is a script that someday will run, removing FFA games from ratings, and he'll be back to ~3100 eloids where he belongs.

History will be rewritten. This cascades into other games. Instead of a 2700-elo player, there was a 3200-elo player in your team. Win odds in this game weren't around ~50% but >60% => you (and other winners) will gain less elo from this win. And losers lose less elo.

There is no problem with the transformation from the probability distribution to its mean value (which is just a number, namely the "actual rating"). The problem is the transformation from the actual rating to the ladder rating as USrankAdminSteel_Blue described. The actual rating is used for predicting, balancing and the statistics graph. Ladder rating depends on it in weird ways that do not make any sense from a mathematical point of view but prevent counterintuitive changes without playing as USrankAdminSteel_Blue described. You can see both your ladder ratings and your actual ratings in your profile statistics page.

Ladder_rating is just a number converging on a game-to-game basis to the moving average of the current_rating of the last 30 days by 1-50 points. As it says in the description.

It's not that hard. Is it.

You're confusing current rating and ladder rating DErankAdminmojjj.

The former is the real estimate of your current playing ability. The latter is a cludge introduced because some people didn't like the fact the former can go down when you win a game. I would recommend ignoring the cludge one.
