Rez is feature bloat and a stupid way for commtrollers that lose their com to start wasting resources.

Edit: And it can lead to arguments over who "owns" a wreck, which is just dumb.

Rez stats (numerical balance, not the idea of rez) are currently also bad in that Comm rez seems much more cost efficient than Athena, not to mention other benefits like weapons and being tankier. That's probably a problem with Comms, though.

Rez is somewhat ok on Athena because it is an expensive specialty unit. It is not great but it can stay (as with the entire unit). Rez on 60 BP comms is quite annoying though.

There's been innumerable times where a person loses their comm or pet unit of choice, puts a marker on the wreck ("MINE"), and starts slowly building athenas and sending them out to rez it (of course, it takes forever since it's a big unit). All the while the team is in need of metal to turn the tide but apparently can't reclaim the unit, because of the silly rez project. And often, the opponents will get to the wreck, preventing rez anyway, and getting even more metal because the wreck wasn't reclaimed.

And of course, if any teammate dares to touch the marked wreck, they get raged at, threatened with report, called a nub, etc.

Imho having a cutesy feature like rez on athena doesn't justify these kind of dumb dynamics. Permadeath would also underline the consequences of recklessness, and encourage taking care of big units.

The morale is - If a nub loses his puppet unit jsut eat it, eait it moar. If pro loses just ask if he's willing to do anything about it. If u own your own puppet rezzy com jjust help him ^^.

BTW, Antena has 10Bp, so u need 3k metal to get 60RP. Lvl 5 rezzy com often costs like 5k. Not cost efficient compared to Antena.

I don't think rez is "feature bloat and stupid". It's just not something that should be unique* to commanders, same like in-combat-autorepair. That is not to say resurrection wouldn't be overpowered on other units - it may very well be, provided there are wrecks of useful units. In that case simply increase E/BP cost from 1.2x to 2x and see what happens.

Ressing could be a really nice way of making team late/end-game more interesting, especially considering right now large teams end-game is mostly funnel, nuke and porc spam.

PLrankfailer I know I would 90℅ of the time eat a trollcom wreck instead of waiting ten minutes for an uncertain rez project. But it's not really about who wants to reclaim and who wants to rez - the mere fact that it causes arguments and feel-bad moments in teamgames is bad.

Skasi, the thing is, I don't think rez as a mechanic is worth the poor team dynamics it causes, and if ZK didn't have rez now, I'd see no reason to add it in.

Like you said, rez is a comm-centric gimmick currently, since athena is so expensive and fragile.

Last time rez was on a regular constructor (amphcon) it was deemed OP though, and got owled by making Athena the rezzer unit.

Basically, in its current form, rez might as well be removed imo. But if you have some epic plan for rez which would make its pros outweigh its cons, and you'd be willing to see it implemented, of course I'd be interested. :)

We could either give normal cons ability to rezz, or give each factory a 2nd con which has the same stats as its primary one, but has rezz module and is twice as much expensive. But that would require new models, so...

Actually I came up with something new. Give storages the ability to resurrect. That way they finally get a use! To resurrect units, players have to build storages in a circle around the wrecks and speak the forbidden magic words.
