Good enough for 1v1, if a little dull looking.

Is this map actually asymmetrical or is someone just trying to annoy me? >:|

Strictly speaking it is asymmetrical. I can't find any axis of symmetry that would work perfectly, but going from about 20% right from bottom-left to 20% left of top-right is about the closest axis I can find that works for the metal spots, and the heightmap looks rotationally symmetric, but even then there are differences.

It certainly wasn't made symmetric in GIMP/PS when it was built. It looks like the designer was trying to hand-craft symmetry to preserve a natural look.

Alright. But if it isn't actually asymmetrical in a way that's readily visible or that has a material effect on the gameplay, I don't think it should be tagged as such.

I have always liked this map. I like the size, terrain colour and the fact that it is super flat(yay tanks).

The problem I have with this map is that it gets voted for with giant 10vs10 matches.

This map is always either big or too small. It is very strange.

It has the perfect size for 1v1, no? I'd call this a medium sized 1v1 map.

The strangeness of the map lies in that it's deceiving.

You start out narrow, but then suddenly you are in broad operative space, due to corners expanding.

You look at it, and you see vast plains with no obstacles, but there can be temporary chokepoints drafted between the pits.

It looks all connected, but in reality, the "other" corners are almost as islands, captured or raided as one, semi-isolated by that well-placed river/canyon/trench.

This map is extremely overplayed right now. I assume people really like it. In case mappers can not decide on what to create, maybe a map similar to this would be a good idea.

My guess is that players prefer the use of holes/river to cut the map over mountains. I think these features should be used on more maps! :)

The texture for this map is very easy on the eyes and the use of a sparkly green skybox with the green texture underneath the water pools makes the water look amazing when it's set on /water 3

Also the size is perfect for 1v1 and honestly I think people just love flat vehicle maps, of which there are not so many available. The other most popular map being Red Comet. Then there's crappy ones like Alien Desert which is only played because it is a flat vehicle map

So basically I think what we need is more flat maps 10x10 with nice textures

This is the best map in existance, ofc it'd be the most overly played map

I think I figured out why vehicle pathing is so awful on this map. It's because some of the ditches have small unpathable spots that are not really visible as such (not even on F2 in 91.0).

Check out this screenshot of 98+, pink means unpathable

Well the reason has always been "because there's pointless ditches"...

They aren't pointless, u can use archers to push enemy vehicles into this ditches!
Flying reapers ye!

Pretty sure by "pointless ditches" he meant the ~20 elmo deep holes (dark grey on the heightmap), not the ones with green water on the bottom (black on heightmap). Still they're not necessarily "pointless". They slow down movement a bit. There's just a few spots that block it completely and those need to be cleared.

Both works Skasi. Even if u succeed at pushing enemy vehicle into a "~20 elmo deep holes" ur enemy got big disadvantage. For example I used this trick to kill enemy treamors a few times, enemy got stuck in ditch and was killed by my reaper xD

But yea we could have a version of this map with more passable terrain.
