How does dagger vs dagger work? it seems like whoever attacks is the loser, regardless of the amount of dagger. Are daggers instead just used as defense against daggers, until mace can be made?

Pretty hard to see how to micro them properly but not dying on their side of the map def helps.

It comes down to formations. A semi-circle is the optimal formation for dishing damage, however, you can't jink an attack in a micro second and maintain this formation, which is why defense seems easier. In order to force the enemy daggers to come parallel to your own, you HAVE to be threatening territory of theirs that forces them to make this kind of a movement - thus spearheading their daggers into your formation. IErankPRO_Clopse says here that it helps not dying in their territory, but you can't force this type of movement anywhere else. It's a tradeoff.
