Possible bug: Battles not always showing players

When I hover the mouse over an entry in the battle list, in most (but not all) cases I can't see who is playing without joining that battle.
I'm not using Steam. Anybody else experiencing this behaviour?

Intended behaviour (server only shows everyone only 40 other people initially because else it wouldn't be able to handle that much traffic)
