You mean synchronize for maximum overkill-damage i guess...

The sound itself doesn`t bother me either, more that it forms like 50% of the soundscape. Lances are cancer but they don`t shoot nearly as much, cloaked bombs are cancer, but they don`t detonate nearly as often.

Allegedly if you create a folder named "sounds" in the zero-k folder, you can reduce the loudness of impaler if you find the sound and edit it down. I'd suggest using Audacity and setting the peak to -20 to -30dB or so.
