Hi all,
I've heard a few times now that certain units are problematic because of religious association.
I looked over (hopefully all) units and buildings and here are the ones I found:
Religious: Lucifer, sometimes name of the devil. Originally from roman myth. Trinity, the essence of God. Djinn, a spirit in Islam. Originally from arabian myth.
Undead: Revenant, someone that returned (as ghost or just from a long vacation).
Associated to religion: Dante, poet that wrote about christian themes.
Mythical: Athena, greek myth Hercules aka Heracles, greek myth Merlin aka Myrddin, welsh myth Cerberus, greek myth Artemis, greek myth
From all of these, only Lucifer and Trinity really stand out. Dante is, as far as I can tell, not a saint or religious entity. It's not a biblical name, term or reference. Djinns and Geenies feature quite often in fantasy genres, so I would assume this to be OK. I'm not educated on Islam, however. Revenant is just a general ghost type. Sometimes undead are censored, but I think that's mainly the visualization. The mythical names are generally not considered to be religious anymore.
Both the Lucifer and the Trinity name are used rarely in ZK. I could probably count how many times I've heard someone say "Trinity" with 1 hand. People generally say "nux" or "nuke" instead. Lucifer is usually shortened to "lucy", "luci" or "anni", and anyways the unit is not very popular at the moment.
It's still completely in the dark how many are actually offended by these names.

We can call units: Unit-1, Unit-2, Unit-3.. So that no one would be offended in this world. (Kidding)

No judgement- but I just can't understand how you can be bothered by the name “Lucifer” in an RTS game Please someone enlighten me with your thought processes.

GOLDSTANDARDwell, I guess you know the story of Beetlejuice or Hanako from the Toilets. Basically, there is the believe that words carry power, and calling the name of something channels power to the adressed.

If only somebody was tracking how many times Lucifer has been built ingame, we would be able to predict when building it again will indeed cause a catastrophe. Maybe once we reach a million of them built, we'll start to appreciate the problem.

lucifer is the worst criminal. do not be tricked by lucifer. do not name a unit after the worst criminal. i do not want to break the rules to discuss religion i politely ask the admins to rename the unit to annihilator : a person or thing that entirely destroys a place, a group, an enemy, etc. : one that annihilates something or someone https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/annihilator

I personally find more questionable unit names that suggest direct violence (ex: thug, impaler) than names that can mean different things to different people (trinity, lucifer). But I guess says something about what is important to people.

I object to dirtbag because of suggestion of untidiness. I prefer rename to soilbag.

Emissary is also problematic because of garbage performance in the phallic artillery dominated cluster frick meta (see Lance, Impaler). Buff please. Also in support of ^unit-\d{3}$ naming convention. (ambiguous)

While I like Annihilator, it can be assumed that officially ZK tries to avoid TA names.

And we then call Cerberus: the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog? Would make sense.
