So a Chinese, an American, a Korean, and a Canadian walk into a bar. They all sit down and have fun playing Zero K.
I've been playing a few other games lately but keep find myself circling back to Zero-K since its the only game I know where people from around the globe just set aside their differences and have fun.

Thank you everyone for the games.

P.S. apologies if for any reason the opening "joke" misses its mark for tongue in cheek humor.

not realy sure humans always always do put aside differences.. since there is an all american, russian and chinese clan.. but i think your more right then wrong.

humans often culturaly and polliticaly divide.. however the nature of the game is more or less mixed random teams that do not enforce strict clan stacking so ultimatly unless you wanted lower elo you will need to work with other nations to achieve victory.

i will say this.. there may always be prejudice in the world but that being said there will always be those who are tollerant and undeerstanding of others too.

however i believe that blindly accepting all cultural values is not wise for the following reasons:

a few years ago i met a group of south africans staying in a caravan park.. they were very friendly and kind and it was a plesure to meet them.. however they threw huge amounts of rubbish into the pristine woodlands bordering the caravan park.. i asked them why and they said its normal culture for them..

i dont believe australian culture is any different as there are simmilar local cultures that are inconciderate and destructive just as there are those that may be observed in any society

for this reason i do take issue with the current woke allow all mentalities as i believe that doing the right thing involves questioning and defending values.

i feel judgement has been made the enemy of the people when blind prejudice was once an agreed problem.. because logical impersonal judgements are actualy good in my opinion.. and societies shift towards hyper offendable is erroding morals.

maybe im old but i remember a day it used to be i could tell somone they were missing something becuase i cared about them and people did not take it all so personaly.. now everyone seems to be leaning into being a missunderstood and unrelenting momentum of pride. and atleast for me personaly i found people anger faster when there 'ways' are questioned.

so i believe that all countries america, china, russia, australia.. all of them.. have good and bad values.. things that are cruel.. things that are corrupt.. things that are greedy.. things that are evil.. and when some nations may have more cruelty then others its often because they have less resources per person..

in zero-k everyone is more or less forced to share equaly.. and if you dont help eachother and even save eachother then your team looses.. so it forces a cohesion of unity unseen in a world often geared towards indervidual gains.

TLDR i agree people work together here and are nice to eachother. i have had many friendly russian and chineese players who even helped me make my mods =) it is good to remind ourselves that we are here to play and have fun.

That's the beauty of a smaller community imo, everyone gets to kind of know each other over time so they naturally get along better, guess it's just natural social dynamics. I have also seen this happen in some other smaller games with regular playerbase, such as Insurgency on the community servers.

The international server is why I still hang around here, even though not nearly as much as I used too.

From what I noticed there is a rise in toxicity sadly, and some people can't leave their politics out of the game.
Hope this doesn't destroy the community we build up.

I would say citation needed, not because I disagree with the general feeling, but because I also might have less patience with toxicity so it might be me. But then I look what happens outside the server and I think "oh, ZK is civilized!".

If I would be to choose I would hope a less civilized ZK and a more civilized real-life...

FRrankmalric

in recent weeks, there seems to be an attempt to normalize cursing in general, and intentional bad gameplay/trolling in detail.

Oh, I did not play from around two weeks, I interpreted more like "in the last 6 months". Sad if it became even worse recently. Ban them all (partially joking) !
