my game crashes very often, usualy at least once in a long game (30mins+), sometimes twice. im rather clueless what could be the reason. there is nothing in the infolog about it either. the error message popping up is typically "std: bad alloc". my computer is new, im using windows 8 preview with the newest drivers for my ati card. i didnt have that with the same os on my old pc, so i figure its probably not the os.

For me this error was caused by chat + chat2 running at the same time.
Check that.
Also setting up border less mode can help (enable and disable windowed mode in ZKL settings)

widget was already disabled. i tried the windowing thing, cant tell if it worked. could there be another widget(-conflict) thats causing it? or maybe an engine setting?

How much ram do you have? it might be that spring leaks memory and then you hit 2GB or whatever is limit launch task manager and watch how ram consumption progresses over time, does it hit 2GB. Normally only on ultra big maps 32 bit spring can run out of memory like GargantuanEpicShore and similar.
Does it occur when you spectate? if yes try spectate some vey big BA game maybe this is zk issue.

as far as i know it happens on all kinds of maps, tho smaller games are mostly over before it can happen. i got 8gb ram, so i figure it would be a management issue or physical defect, if its related to the ram. so far it never happened as a spec as i recall so it might be a lua thing. is there even a 64 bit version of the current engine?

hm yeah i dont have much trouble with the drivers anymore, one of the newer engine versions (or even zk?) fixed the minimap blobs and bars, dont think there are any other glitches.

It's engine fixed in 89.0. Unfortunately we're still stuck on 88.0.
