Please consider this thread a petition to disable the singularity unit on the TEAMS/noobie servers. An awful lot of games get lost/wrecked because some fool builds them right in the middle of his teams eco. Even more get lost because noobies spend all of their metal building these things instead of generating units. I'd also like to see this unit take 25-50K xp to unlock in the first place...

we can make it...possible to unlock it at level 30-40...or even 50 to be sure

This unit is a bit of a special case in terms of risk. Building one typically doesn't just screw the constructing player, it often hoses a large portion of that player's team. It's perfectly reasonable for someone who's learning to make mistakes and suffer the consequences. It's something else for someone who's (also) just learning to get wiped out by another noob accidentally. This isn't a rare event either. I don't have statics but I feel like I typically see it at least once per day of play on the noobie servers.

Fusions are probably for another thread but I also see a lot of noobies building these before even plopping. How about making these merely 10000 xp to unlock? :)

Actually, the moho geo has the same problem as the singularity and it doesn't even have to be unlocked. OK - I'll make a specific proposal. This is cheaper in terms of XP then I think they should be but the cost can always be incrementally increased. # currently fusion - not locked moho geo - not locked singularity - 400xp unlcok # proposed fusion - 400xp unlock moho geo - 1000xp unlock singularity - 1000xp unlock, and everyone who has it currently unlocked gets 400xp back and has to unlock it again.

I like this idea of these being very hard to unlock.

I do not think that is something that can be "fixed" with locking more units or higher xp requirement. It only masks the problem a bit: You do not see those silly singularity reactors but instead you get something like (1500+ elo btw) which is equally useless, just a bit harder to spot...

I think that in general that items cost to little XP.Once you reach level 40 you pretty much have like 235897602973869027345896738904576389456 XP left over.

I often wonder if the game really needs the Sing. It seems to be the hallmark of OMGWTFPorc games, but if you're going for OMGWTFPorc eco, its cost/benefit ratio is too great to ignore. Besides, if player is going to get hit hard in his home eco in the late game, he's dead *anyways*, whether it was Sings or Fusions or wind-fields.

The Sing. certainly has it's place in chicken games and the "we've been at stalemate for an hour; time for eco victory" games. As the adv. fusion has it's place in BA. knorke - while I agree that on some level you "can't fix stupid" your argument can used against having an unlock system at all. I think the unlock system helps more then it hurts, although I wonder at times if the unlock order should be fixed. Even more often I think that each level of com morphing should be an unlock. :) In the interest of something sooner rather then later, can we at least agree that my proposal is better then the state of things now?

I must be blind... can someone point me at the XP system code in the svn tree?

Make singu available at lvl 100, 50000xp to unlock. So only sfireman will rush it! It will be even more OP than now!

@[WTF]sfireman: you are probably forgetting NeonStorm "Level 101" "168700 points", though he does not seem to play anymore with this account.

About the Fusion thing, can we get a widget that block its construction right next to another Fusion, so noobs do not make them chain any more? Something similar to the widget that blocked anything from building near the Factory.

Fortaleza - maybe there's a way to do that with groundplates? Iirc there was a change that made the pathfinder aware of the open spots in groundplates, so you could make a building have an open area around it that must be flattened and left unoccupied by buildings but is passable to units and not really "part" of the building.

Just make some fat red " !WARNING!EXPLOSIVE!" text on that thing so it's a bit more obvious. People who miss such signs in real life tend to not live long anyway.
