There should be a way to opt-out of XP system

If there is a way to opt out of the XP system, that would be great. I play a lot of private matches on a LAN with friends, and I am very familiar with every unit. I just need a way to override the new XP system so our games aren't just shield bots and light vehicles. I want tanks and nukes dammit! and I already know how to use them!

I love this game, but this new system will turn experienced RTS people away.

as far as turning experienced players away goes, not really.

You dont see CoD 34 causing players to complain about how they have to unlock weapons that they may have used in the previous 33 games.

Its something big developers are including to increase re-playability (hmm have to find that article about the tricks mmo's use to rope in gamers)

Anyway, its something new, i kind of like it. It was fun when i played the first game on 0xp i actually had to use a different set of tactics and was really challenged by the bot.

Though the bot can sometimes be unfair (see: building units that you dont have and wiping the floor with you, im looking at you hover factory)

One thing i like is that shieldbot builders necro's can rez, which makes the "battle for salvage" more interesting.

I agree with Echo and his use of example. It's hard for those at a lower level cause they don't have things unlocked, running around with out pro perks, such as much needed Ghost Pro etc. People learn to adapt and work to unlock those and shouldn't concern themselves about what they don't have, and work with what they chosen. In the end it's down to what they unlocked.

Gunship Lab should be baseline though.

because some really dis-like the unlock system, can you put up a autohost with it turned off by default? That way people will know it's possible to play without it.

Are ZK developers masochistic just like they were when it was still named CA?

Why would you work so hard to alienate people with these kind of ridiculous limitations?

Because apparently people like it.

You should know that devs aren't getting any special treatment with this system. We work our way through just like everyone else :D, so hopefully that will prevent it from being brutal and unfun.

If you have specific criticisms or suggestions it will help us make the system better.

I don't mind the xp system, as long as there is a workaround, which there is, thus I have no problem with the system :)

(You get xp on games with full unlock also, so if you're new, try it with unlock so that you can earn some xp AND know what you wish to buy once you get there :) )

((I'm still going for miss bertha, I am too addicted to artillery))

Echo419; if you find that article, could you send it to me/post it in this thread? I'm very interested.
