Hi all. I hope to create a perfect Chinese localization for Zero-K.

Currently in China, people just play Age of Empires 2 (it's the only translated one). Although I haven't played Zero-K yet, I think many will love the hassle-free RTS that it is.

My Chinese is from China, English from USA. I can help you get a localized version to China that won't sound like it's "Chinese from Mars". Let me know how I can help in this area?

If you wanna test my Chinese-English translation skills, let me at some Wiki pages. Just tell me where.

Character or pinyin? You'll want to check if spring renders character, I don't know although others might.

I think we only have 3 sounds with language; "Game started", "Game Paused" and "Commander under attack". So that is fairly easy.

Large parts of the UI are pictographic which helps. There is already a menu option to set language and it currently controls unit tooltips and helptext. Someone would have to track down the rest of the text spread throughout the UI and add language switching support.

Nicole_Chen just dont make your opinion about game now(as of 83.0 spring engine), since it is quite broken now because of new release of spring engine(83.0) in 82.7 all works nicely. New releases of engine always are more or less buggy. I wish you good luck.

And you look at yourself very critically you offer free help and you think devs wont accept it if it is not perfect? wrong. Even it would sound like chinese from mars it is still better than no translation who dont understand english at all, you can always write something like this "dont like this translation?, make it better" I have submited my voice in childsplay with similar writing, because I wanted my sister to learn to count and read alphabet faster :) She has old P2 laptop with all sorta of educational soft runing linux since age of 3 or something :D

I dont know how big percentage can speak english in china, but at least in Lithuania all young people can understand it more or less at least enough for be able to normally play games, so there is no big point in something like Lithuanian translation unless you want some childs appearing here :) Personally I always prefer english version than localised one.

Translate ALL the things to korean, if we start getting some koreans playing we would go into the e-sports! And afaik, the engine only has render for ascii or it has a very limited character font.

To note: %spring%/LuaUI/Fonts/FreeMonoBold_12.png is the render of FreeMonoBold spring uses to output ALL the texts. So probably only the characters in that png are available.

surprised noone actually linked to the wiki page, he even specifically asked for it...

http://code.google.com/p/zero-k/w/list

This is a list of wiki pages on the dev site. some of them are just pages for development and not really important for translating, but some, like newbieguide, download, etc... are rendered on the player website.
