Bandit is squish, outlaw cant deal with mediums and heavies, felon is midgame. An early game shielded riot would allow to make pushes vs coms building pork and raiding parties to disrupt enemies building up eco or ravager hordes.

It sounds like Thug would force skirmishers too early. Thugs with Leveler guns would be untouchable by raiders because they are cheaper than Levelers and are best beaten by getting under their shield. The DPS increase would make them even more ridiculously good against defenses. This is quite an interesting question though because it forces you to look at assault type units with anti-raider capability. If Thug with Leveler gun sounds too good then why is Zeus not too good? They are both tough units that kill raiders. Is Zeus too good? Zeus has 0.31 DPS/cost while Thug with Leveler gun has 0.68 DPS/cost. This is a significant change to their assault capability. Also a Leveler gun is unswarmable while Zeus can be swarmed with enough raiders. Current Thug DPS/cost is 0.24 which is worse than Zeus but a lot of the purpose of Thug is in the protective shield.

That is my point exactly; to force opposition out of usual routine of build-up and make them actually fight instead of amassing blob of doom then facerolling. I used to achieve it with Rocko spam but now it doesnt works as well so i am looking for replacement.

I don't think the build-up then faceroll routine is optimal. If you have a few Thugs you should use them. Try making a small force of 3 Thugs and 1 Outlaw then send them at some defense.

Thug is essentially the same role as ravager; a tanky raider used to break through porc. That's why it has a slow, inaccurate plasma shot which is not much good in fights but is decent against static targets. On the other hand leveler has weak health but is great in fights. See how it balances out? I'm guessing unit balance is not a concept you're familiar with but I'm sure even you can see how mixing the strong points of both these units into 1 unit would be too OP. If you take away unit roles and have units like this then there would be no need to create anything else, you could just spend the entire game making nothing but thugs, which would be boring.

A monospam of those will be indeed effective vs anything except ultra-heavy defenses, air strikes, cloaked mines and aoe superweapons. As it stands, people make ravagers all game, win and no one complains about boredom.

it sounds like you just want to play a different game, I'm sure there are other RTS out there with what you seek, no need to spam this forum demanding that the entire game be changed to suit your liking or you could fork ZK and make your own mod, call it "unbalanced annihilation"

Striders should be more or less MBTs, having all sorts of different weapons taht can protect them frm all sort of units, to a certain extend ofc. But for sure its not the way cheap unis should be.

Well personally I kinda don't like how Banatha is weak for its cost. It dies to reaper spam while being just a half cost of a detri :\ I would expect it to be able to destroy like 6 reapers.

Maybe try use thug withouth fellon? They work gretly when supported with outlaws, racketeers and bandits. They alone can oblidarate light defences very fast and then regen their shields. Most players uses fellon as main weponary but dint understand that shield fac units can be used in didfferent combinations. So thug has shield. Fellon deplete shield. And now thug is just shield supporter. If thugs will be given levelr gun they will be too strong. With outlaw slow they will kill all. I think already fellon is bit too powerfull. But ugrade thugs, nuff..

About bantha - most useless ability ever is its d-gun.. So pathetic and innacurrate missiles. And bantha is unit which power shine when it is supported as main assault. So its good that reapers can kill this unit. Its not Diablo 3 RPG. Its Zero K RTS.

@[ffc]killer Roach costs more than most things it's going to riot. Ironically, it does best at killing Thugs. Early-game shield riot is a Bandit hiding inside a shield or with an Outlaw. Seriously, I need a "duct-tape bandit to thug/convict" widget.
