Some new broken features?

So i noticed there are a few new features with zero-k.

1. Unit placement in the unit menu is all over the place now. I guess to promote some kind of "consistency" between factories.
- found it a little odd since some factories have more than 1 of that type (artillery, riot, spam etc)

2. The build windows are strange now too. "special" tab is before "factory"
- if this is the new "default" is there a way to customize these tabs?

3. BIGGEST PROBLEM - When you pan with your keyboard (directional keys) your build menu keeps resetting.
- I prefer to pan the battlefield for a half second while selecting what i need to build.
Example. Front line builders are hotkey "1", i am at factory setting up new build que.
i push "1" and while i pan to the front lines i select defences, and select "stinger" and place.
I know i can "pan" with the mouse, but the directional keys give me a more precise location and frees up the mouse to do other tasks.
My left hand can utilize the entire keyboard while my right just uses the mouse.
Please fix, Pan keys should not interact with orders or UI windows.

4. Some factories don't default to the unit tab when selected.
- whenever the strider lab was selected it would show a blank build list, rather than the default unit tab.

Like to see that the devs are always working to improve the game, but players have different play styles and interface issues that may have been overlooked. Hope this helps hammer out some of the bugs.

(1) is defined in integral_menu_commands.lua; there's a bit of rationale for the arrangement in how that is structured.

I dunno about (2) and (3).

(4) is probably a technical mistake caused by Strider Hub not being a "true" factory.

Yes the new unit ordering freaking sucks for every factory. The old ordering made a lot more sense, and now lots of people are going to be annoyed.

Yes, that's kind of annoying too, although much less so.

I think it resets as soon as you select anything anyway. If it is interacting with arrow keys then that's definitely a bad thing though.

Probably athena too.

Showing the order panel by default for Athena is a reasonable decision I think.

To customize tab keys you need to go over to the command panel option menu in the in-game settings.

#3 also happens when you hit enter to chat, and when you hit shift (to give multiple orders to a unit, such as building factories)

Athena isn't that big of a deal either way, since you do have to manually select the 'units' menu to build one in the first place.

Some other things..

It used to be that if you selected a factory when spectating it would show the orders panel by default (which is obviously not what you want), but now it shows units by default, which is a definite improvement.

Also if you have nothing selected the order panel is now hidden automatically, which is generally an improvement. It does show the same old panel with all empty tabs and a stop order at game start, at least when spectating, but I assume that it's required to make the pregame queue work.

Some other broken things..

Apparently not only arrow keys but also shift will cause the command panel to reset. Derp.

If you select a unit that only has the 'orders' tab available the entire tab bar is hidden, leaving a hole in the layout. The orders tab should just fill the entire horizontal space (and should still say 'orders' because that makes the purpose of the panel clearer).

Factory hotkeys for units are stupid, and they conflict with orders hotkeys which are frequently used with factories. Repeat orders make unit hotkeys meaningless, but if there's an issue with that it's that there's no easy way to cancel an existing fac queue except to individually remove each item. You should be able to clear the queue just by giving the fac a stop order.

#1 on the list written in gold pen from the pope's cat is.
Command panel should not reset when using keys that are not changing the units that are selected. (arrow keys, alt, shift, ctrl etc etc)
The command panel should only change if you select different units, or deselect the currently selected units.
To have the build command swapping when pan a little one way is bad bad...

not really about broken feature but can I request feature?

Match making matches should silence spectator i.e. spec should not be able to player chat.

when metal excess and energy insufficient only display the energy insufficient warning, since the 2nd cause the first. also the suggestion for metal excessing is building more which is not helping the lack of energy.

lobby in-game button is called "menu" same as in game menu and potentially lay on top of in-game menu which may cause confusion:

Got a few new ones for you.
1. Factory orders don't work correctly.
To tell a factory to "guard" a unit in the circle function no longer works. so you cant just tell a spider lab to guard circle a unit to make a ring of flees.

2. Issuing orders from your factory, such as "Attack" "guard" and using a hotkey to tell the factory what to do.
Also causes the factory to add the "A" unit and the "G" unit to the que....
Not a good system if orders add units to the que that you then have to disable...

For everyone who hasn't figured it out yet, you can configure the command panel in F10->Settings->Interface->HUD Panels->Command Panel to fix most of the shenanegans.
