Toasters would be better off getting back to work instead of wasting their time with this laughable revolution.

You can edit again in 12 hours when Europeans have awakened.

I think you've mistaken me deciding not to spoil other people's fun for an actual change in my opinion.

This is what always makes me question Planetwars. Is stomping players in a long train unbalanced battles fun? Is it sustainable?

Personally, no to both. Planet wars with 4 sides was probably a better experience for me, as diplomacy and backstabbing were fun.

We just lost a planet.
Sadly, it was my bad coordination with my teammate :(

I think most of the problems are caused by low activity.
PW should only be run after steam (or on weekends) and with more factions to balance the meta game.
Regarding stomp - it is to be expected a bit, It is the hardcore version. We had the casual one too, where games would be balanced but it was deemed inferior to the hardcore version, also because issues like elo dumping.
Best we can do is to increase team size and add players.

Ok, lets resign and end PW now.

I think current PW is huge success. I have played so many nice small quick team games in last 3 days. Before PW I was trying to make small team game without success. Everyone was just going to clusterfuck game.

If the action/turn timer was scaled based on how many historically active PW players there are online at a time things would probably be a lot better. No more 3 am planet sniping. So if many players are online it becomes quicker, and in the middle of the night when nobody is on, turns take 3-5x as long to complete.

That's how it works, the timer goes up to 90 minutes when there's no activity from the opposing side. But IMO we could just do away with the timer completely. If the opposing side isn't playing there's no point running the game. Maybe "resign" a side when there's no activity for 24 hours.
Not sure how this would work with more factions.

In that case, I suppose better documentation would be nice too :P

small teams are pretty cool when you oppose 2 veterans and have an inexperienced teammate. that makes the game short. i think that is what
Vistritium
is talking about.

I don't deny that there are many unbalanced games like you described - I don't find them enjoyable.
But there is also many close games that are fun to play.

My preferred approach is a real-time deadline. Whichever faction has most planets a week after start, wins.
