The original StarCraft: Brood War is now a free to play game.
Official websiteOfficial download linkI post this because there's some really awesome Starcraft maps that I've always wanted to play online. They're rather complex and with many awesome features that would probably overwhelm the average player. So I'm looking for a group of people who are interested in trying out old, but unique gameplay on a variety of maps I've collected over the years.

[Spoiler]Astrogears Mk I v3
Astrogears is the main reason I created this thread. It's the most promising map I've ever seen but never played as thoroughly as I'd like. It's rather complicated, but once you get the hang of it you'll get to enjoy a game that I haven't seen anywhere else.
Two teams try to destroy each other in a 3v3. The player is represented by a [Gear Master] and a [Gear]. The map is a space platform on which resources spawn regularly. Each side has a HQ, deployment centers that spawn units and a quantum gateway that works as a shop, teleporter and probably has some other abilities I don't know about. Players can control their Gear or other vehicles to attack, bombard or sabotage their enemies, to build more spawners, gateways, construct fortifications and to do many many other things.
The other maps are relatively straightforward and quickly explained ingame, provided you listen:
A Grave Invasion V1.983
A rather chaotic but fun looking moba. All I remember is that it was really messy and that this is exactly what made it so enjoyable!
StarQuest 1.49c
A bit of a space based moba. Each player gets to pick a space ship. Space ships have abilities and can be upgraded.
Worms 1.84 More
Four shuttles (worm head) fly around and create a line of immobile units (worm body). Crashing into a body kills you. Each player starts with some special powers to make things more enjoyable.
Last Stand -RP-(p)
Some sort of space based RPG. I don't really remember much about this, but it looked quite fun.
Gassers (v1.8)
A pretty simple arcade game.
