why you think it is good?
do you want

- invent a new raider game
- new ecosystem

?

make macro less braindead about expanding

also niche cases like moderator onehitting an open solar (criminally underused)

This makes macro more braindead by massively buffing the one unit that the expansion concept entirely rotates around.

Its not really any different to giving mexes a Welder sidearm.

P.S. the moderator is a horribly designed unit that is barely worth existing.

There is the potential for some nuance here, if done properly. A closed mex would produce so metal so there would be more graduation in the success of raids. However, doing this properly would be a lot of work and effectively be a redesign.

Guys, please see the other spring games for examples of armored, armed, upgraded, and cloaked mexes, for example:

and

Firepluk
Moderator, fencer, racketeer is a cancer killing this community and driving new players away ^^
Especially when it's mass spammed in big games...

If mex are armored, they also need to cost more.

Not only that, but an LLT also needs to be heavier so that raiders don't kill your LLT before having time enough to kill mexes.

Or prepare a trap for the constructor you send to rebuild that mex.

Mexes could attract meteors like Zenith but in smaller case.

Uh... huh. Elaborate on how it is "braindead"? This is either a troll or a statement based on misconceived ideals. In pretty much ANY RTS game, literally ANY/ALL of them, expansion isn't that "active" of a mental task. Expansion boils down to "to expand or not to expand" based on utility maximization. Does not matter if there's 2 levels of mexes, metal mak0rz, or if there's just one unit for expansion, same decision making process, same analysis. I don't see how you are ever going to make it "not braindead".

i like how the buildings are kinda squishy in this game

Agreed, unlike other games where arty is basically a must just to thrash buildings.

It is called terraform .

I think it's a bad idea, especially if it were to produce different metal. Think about the frustration of your ally building the wrong type of mex. It would also go against quants rule by giving it sidearm. Just build terraform/defences if you want to protect it. The game kinda revolves around defending mexes.

A good player kills 2 Lotus and 3 mex with 2 Scythes or 8 glaives.
In the progress, he loses maybe 2-4 glaives or needs to stand idle to heal the scythes which doesn't matter because they already made cost.

425m worth of metal killed and probably 30 seconds = 60m lost on income (or more if they are overdriven or a constructor is nearby).

A stardust will kill more scythes and glaives, but putting a stardust on every 3 mex sets you either back 30 seconds and you risk losing that stardust during build porgress.
The emeny could choose to expand undefended and make 120m per minute more - a second constructor which follows the first and builds defenses on already claimed mex spots.

If 5 Lotus are needed to defend the whole front, you pay 450m for Lotus.
How much should your 450m Lotus be able to kill?

Perhaps have a toggle setting on Mexs that allows them to siphon a portion of their metal output, along with increased energy demand, into reinforcing themselves over time?

Like it starts growing HP points, gains a defensive turret, and eventually a shield.

Perhaps two toggle settings. One for increasing production, one for increasing defense. So the longer a mex is alive and investing some of it's resources into itself, the more it's survivability and productivity improve.

One for increasing production

You can already invest resources into increasing mex output, via overdrive.

quote:
one for increasing defense

You can already invest resources into increasing mex defense, by building defense around it or deploying units in its defense.

The difference is that your idea of making mexes do it themselves in effect gives them free buildpower. This makes builders less unique and yet surprisingly adds no new abilities for the player (because they can already overdrive and defend mexes).

"A good player kills 2 Lotus and 3 mex with 2 Scythes or 8 glaives."
A good player kills 20 glaives with 1 warrior err reaver. So don´t build glaives?

Glaives outrun warriors and they outrun Lotus. they have the choice where to attack and choose weak spots if their controller is a good player.

i could write endless passages, but i will keep it short:
there is a reason why all top players use porc.
