ZeroK crashing in Windows 10 all the time

I've had windows 7 forever but damned microsoft forcing me to windows 10 to use a newer CPU. Anyway, ZeroK crashes in windows 10 on map load about 50% of the time, randomly. On map load right when it says 'creating water' (the loading luarules part is after so I think that's what's triggering it) it will crash 50% of the time. Every other map or so, or if the game didn't close properly. Sometimes I will have to restart 2 or three times before I can finally be let in. It's almost unplayable like this, frustratingly so. Is there a setting change or workaround for this?

Once I turned off the steam overlay I haven't had any problems with windows 10.

My expierience:
there were times where zk crashed on my win7 all the time. then, everything went fine. somewhen later, it used to
crash on a regular basis again and so on. don´t worry. the total effect is not dependant on win10.

moleculeman88: Seriously? Is there a solution in the works? Or is my gullibility getting me excited again? Otherwise, what is it?

korn: I don't run it through steam, hence no steam overlay causing a problem.

katastrophe: Hmm. I don't remember ZeroK ever crashing on windows 7. Of course that was when I had an AMD video card instead of a nvidia card, no SSD drive, etc. So things like that may have been effecting it other than just the operating system.

Can you post an infolog?

For what it's worth I play Zero-K in Windows 10 from an SSD with an Nvidia graphics card with no chronic issues so I suspect your problem is more specific.

I was having similar problems a few weeks ago. The infologs were pointing at a device driver issue with the graphics card, which I cleaned and installed back, newer and older versions. I also tried to revert the configuration which did not help either. Installing the game again solved the issue, so I suspect there was a corruption somewhere.

Is there a way to turn off the maintenance? My older offline version that I play while at work is the one that's crashing all the time. I have no internet there and can't update check and that's what may be triggering the crash from what I see in the infolog. It does also mention a driver problem that I'm looking into right now.

That isn't a complete infolog. "maintenance" doesn't mean anything, it's just a name.

I have installed all latest drivers, and still crash. I have uninstalled all drivers, and still crash. I'm thinking it's safe to say it's not a driver issue. Again, on my win7 system, never a crash. If you look at the log it says "maintenance has crashed" everything before that point was normal. It's also the message just after "creating water" which is where it crashes on the load screen. It's something to do with Win10 and this maintenance thing. Is there a way to turn any type of maintenance off?

Captaintoottoot, the word "maintenance" is part of the game version: "Spring 104.0.1-287-gf7b0fcc maintenance" has crashed.
Spring is the game engine that Zero-K uses.
You can't turn off the game if you want to play it.
