Make a commander with a disintegrator weapon and as many range upgrades as possible. Fire the d-gun at the edge of its range (320 elmo). The d-gun projectile disappears before it reaches the point it was fired at. This makes range upgrades worse than useless for the disintegrator weapon.

This sounds related to the Gauss things. Penetrating projectiles have trouble dying, so they die after a certain range. There is a rumor that the new engine fixes this.
